I live in the UK, My son was born with clubfoot, he had to wear casts from 17days old and get it changed every week, he has a little presidure then in a cast for 3 more weeks

However he's now wearing the Boots&bar bnb, I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what the best socks are to get so his feet stop slipping and what clothes is the best, and where to get them from T.I.A

Marks and Spencer’s do a range of adaptive/ easy on clothing

Ah this brings back so many memories! My DS is now 16 so he is way beyond this stage but I remember like it was yesterday. How are you doing with it?

I do remember that it was all about Gap socks - mainly because they had little grips to stop the sock from slipping. So look out for socks with grips on the soles.

For clothing, we got onesies/trousers with poppers all the way round the inside legs, and footless of course. At night, he wore those zip up sleep bags, mainly to stop him clobbering us when he was having a cuddle!

Hello, my son who was born with clubfoot also went through casting and is now in boots and bar (night time only as he is 2 1/2 now).

When he was a baby, we just looked for any thick, plain white long socks and didn’t have any issues with slipping. For clothes, footless sleepsuits were the best, they have poppers all around the legs so you can change the baby without removing the boots and bar. Next always had a good range, these are an example of what I mean. Also baby dungarees with poppers work well too. For warmer weather, short sleeve rompers are perfect.

When my DD was born a couple of years later, I really struggled not having a bar to lift up to change nappies - those feet were everywhere!

I used to dress my son (now nearly 18) in baby grows as they had poppers all down the legs. We cut the feet off them😊. Just to let you know, your baby will be absolutely fine. I was heartbroken when we found out at the 20 week scan. Worrying about him and his future. He has always been into sport, any sport and currently plays for our city’s junior, u18s, ice hockey team. If you know ice hockey, you know it is a very physical sport. Funnily enough, support given by ice hockey skates have helped him build up strength in his ankles. He also plays for a Canadian team. Don’t ever think that this issue will be detrimental to your child’s future physicality. The Ponseti method is incredible and really does work. I wish you and your baby happiness x

Ah this was us about 16 years ago! He’s now a gorgeous six foot giant beanpole cricketer and all is fine.

My advice also going to be v dated re specific shops. I can’t remember anything particular with socks, but agree with the footless babygros and popper leg dungarees. H&M used to be the best for footless babygros but no idea these days. Frugi had nice ones but wait till they slow down growing a bit.

I’d also say move into bigger cots earlier on to reduce leg bashing against the side. And all the persevering really does work - I know it feels never ending right now but I look back now and it was such a small part of his life. He does remember it and we still go for very occasional checkups. One foot is half a size smaller than the other but it’s not a big problem. And he is supposed to do leg stretching exercises but he’s a bit rubbish with them now. Legs and feet great though! Wishing you and your little one all the very best xxx

H&M is the best for footless sleepsuits right now. M&S and Asda both have a range of adaptive easy on clothes, although these mainly seem to look like they're for tube feedings and hip dysplasia type need?

Socks without threads was the rule. Def no non slip ones with grips. Very uncomfortable on the extra soft skin. Ds is now 15 and nobody would ever guess.
