Frozen breast milk

Would be really grateful for any advice!

DS is 4 months old. I have been combined feeding expressed breast milk and formula. For various reasons I have had to stop expressing, and from this week onwards DS will be having only formula.

I have about 20 feeds of breast milk left in the freezer.

What should I do - keep giving these to DS daily until I run out, or keep them for a bit for when he’s poorly (?!) or incase of needing them?

Please help! X

Unsure of there's any scientific evidence for what brings the biggest benefit, but I used to use the leftover milk to feed a couple of times a week so it's spread over a few months (mine was about 18 months at that time though).
The frozen milk longevity is about 6 months (max 12) so best to use it before that.

Don't keep them too long, as frozen breastmilk can develop an odd smell and flavour the longer it is frozen. I would spread them out over the next few weeks/ month or two

I'd just use them up now and then move to fully formula fed. Not much point in keeping them as the milk content if the milk alters so much over time.

What I mean is the milk will keep for 6 months but the milk you expressed at 3 months is unlikely to satisfy a baby at 9 months.
