Has anyones babies not had MMR or had the jabs individually?

my ds is due his MMR next week and i am having doubts, it could be PFB syndrome but i am concerned. i live in Wiltshire and am unsure if individual jabs is available. i want my ds innoculated but not a single innoc.
am i being silly and just ignore my worries and go ahead or be stubborn and explain my worries? i know that the gp will make me feel like a prat and i will feel pressured into doing something i do not really feel comfortable with!
any advice or experience greatly appreciated.

ds1 had baby jabs, but no MMR. ds2 has had no jabs at all.
if you don't want them just don't have them. ring your surgery and let them know so they don't keep making appts for you. you don't have to see anyone about it if you don't want to

i would rather he had some sort of protection but just mot MMR as i may be paraniod but i think there may be a link, jsut the governemnt wont admit it as there would be literally thousands of law suits!

I read that Dr Halvorsten (?) book about innocx, seems as tho the measles jab is the culprit.

He is also points out these jabs don't offer lifelong protection and these diseases could just be pushed into adulthood where they become more serious.

I'm just going to ignore doc's letter. Well, we're going abroad anyway, so it'll be easy to fall in the gaps.

Halvorsen's book is a good one. Highly recommended.

He does recommend single measles jab for the majority of children.

Hi, both my boys had single jabs through Healthchoice UK. So glad they did as DS2 had allergic reaction to rubella jab - he went red andstarted vomitting. Personally don't think his body could have coped with MMR. When I mentioned this to my GP he agreed but the nurse in the room started spouting off government propoganda regarding MMR. I told her and tell everyone that I had single jabs why should my boys have to have MMR just because government wants to save money.

princessosyth · 30/03/2008 22:16

We had the single jabs done at Breakspear clinic in Hemel Hempstead.

Jessie3 · 30/03/2008 22:19

My ds had individual jabs - I used Choice Healthcare, they have a find your nearest clinic here:

Sorry, no idea where Wiltshire is!

My gp/hvs didn't bat an eyelid at my choice, and certainly didn't try to pressure me either way.

UniversallyChallenged · 30/03/2008 22:24

you can always wait till you feel your LO is ready for all at once. I waited till mine were 2.10 and 3.10 for theirs as they grow up so much between 12 months and then

GP was FAB about it, no pressure at all. Left it for me to arrange when i felt they were ready

HappyMummyOfOne · 31/03/2008 19:45

We went with the single jabs option too, had to travel about an hours journey away but well worth it. Had ours done in Warrington.

Piffle · 31/03/2008 19:52

ds1 had anaphylactic shock after he had mmr so not giving it to dd ( now 5 yrs she had measles at 13 mths)but will source single rubella jab. My ds2 is same age as your bethoo and he is not having it either

I have an autistic son and I was very keen for my second son who isn't autistic to get his MMR as soon as possible. You can make a conspiracy theory out of anything. Are these single vac clincs doing it for the love of mankind or to line their own pocket ? Also according to the US version of the conspiracy theory, three vaccinations will be three time as bad as apparently any vaccination can make a child autistic - for reasons unrelated to 'our' conspiracy theory about the MMR.

We had single jabs in Bath, so not a million miles away from you. DD reacted to mumos one so glad that we went the single route

bethoo · 31/03/2008 21:10

thanks for all your input, was concerned that maybe it would be negative but it has all been very supportive, thanks. i went for a scan today and was told that Salisbury do not do individual vacs so will have to see. i know that alot of autism coincides with the timing of the MMR so maybe i will wait a while then have it done at a later date if that is possible.
once again thank you.

I hope you've seen in the news recently that there is absolutely NO evidence of a link between MMR and autism. In fact, the doctor who stated that there was a link is currently up in front of the GMC for serious professional misconduct:
www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/health/article3308485.ece

Sorry to sound stern but this issue makes me pretty as by not vaccinating you are endangering all the children in your area. People who are not willing to vaccinate their kids put lots of other kids in real danger eg: of a measles outbreak which could cause deaths.

I understand that you want to be responsible and get the individual vacs but as you have found, they are not easy to get hold of and in the meantime your DS remains unvaccinated. This is all fine if you think "oh well it's just one child, what does it matter?" but if everyone were to think this way then we would all be in real trouble and diseases which have been more or less eradicated would return.

I get the feeling it's an unpopular view on mn but the triple vaccine is completely safe and IMO it's kind of selfish to put everyone else's DCs at risk on the basis of some shoddy science which has since been discredited.
