my dd has been potty training for 3 weeks and we went to London yesterday to a museum- in her knickers!!
and she had no real accidents all day she asked for toilet all day- even managing to wait til we got to a tube station with a toilet i didnt realise they didnt all have toilets before. she managed so well I'm really very proud of her. she shouted on the way home toilet, but where we nearly missed the train we didnt get near the toilet, so she caught her knickers, but finished on the toilet. this was at the time she's normally in bed
we left home at 9.30am and didnt get in til 9 due to engineering works holding us up everywhere.
how clever is my baby- sorry for so smug but just amazed and proud of her

Well done! It's great when they get it isn't it? And knickers are so much nicer than nappies.

yay well done you DD

its so much easier- dont need such a giant bag as you do with her pre-folds.
i took such a huge bag of spare clothes out for her, as wasnt sure how she'd manage especially on the trains etc and we didnt need it, also took her potty but she used toilets all day. a month ago i didnt think we'd even be trying before her 2nd birthday let alone done with a month to spare- all at her instigation, i've done nothing except by her "kicks" as she calls her knickers

Fantastic.

I have a proud mummy boast too, followed by a serious question.

DS (aged 28 months) for the third day in a row, asked for the potty before bathtime and did a wee. (The first day, he took a crap in the bath straight afterwards, which rather spoiled the effect ) I am so proud (of the wees, not of the craps) - although he hasn't reached the dizzy heights of museum trips round London! He is also very proud of himself.

I haven't been pushing him, just letting him take it at his own pace. His father wasn't potty trained until 36 months.

So do I now need to buy him pants and go all sticker-tastic? Or can I carry on being mellow? And if I do carry on being mellow, will we have missed the moment?

Well done to your DD

dylsmum1998 · 31/03/2008 22:50

thank you.

i'd leave nappy off, if you can bare messes, round the house and see what happens. if he catches on keep going.
my dd started potty trainig as she had a nasty bout of excema mainly on her bum, so i left her clothes off to get air to it, and she started sitting on the potty, was a bit hit and miss for the first week. we're now heading into week 4 and she's doign brilliantly.
i think if your relaxed and accept there is going to be a certain amoubnt of mess then go for it. he might suprise you

oh and for the pants/stickers
i didnt put thm on her at home until week 2 as she got upset when she messed them. so i left them off at home and just had her in a tshirt so she could sit on potty very quickly if needed

can you tell i'm tired i still forgot to type about stickers, i havent used stickers with dd.
have used them with children when i've been potty trainung as a childminder, as i made little charts that i put stickers on, they used to be so proud showing mum/dad when they were picked up how many stickers they could get on the chart. i think it depends on your ds and his personality, they may encourage him if he is able to show daddy later in the day if he lives at home
