fartyarty, im glad you took it sensible. i can see someone getting it all wrong.

mumeeee · 30/03/2008 23:29

Why does a 16 month old need to watch telivision before bed? Having a bedtime story with Mummy oor Daddy would be much better.

puffling · 30/03/2008 23:30

I love story makers.

WTF indeed. DD wanted to watch it this evening but friend was around so they watched high five instead so I did not know. She doesnt watch it every day and luckily we already have a dvd. phew for that as she often asks for it!

Pavlovthecat · 30/03/2008 23:39

and its not bedtime for her as she goes to sleep at 8:30pm

sophiebbb · 30/03/2008 23:44

A 16 month old watches TV before bed because it gives mum a 20 minute break at the end of the day before the bath, milk and bedtime story routine.....why are people so sniffy about letting their kids watch children's TV but Baby Einstein DVDs are fine......

DaDaDa · 30/03/2008 23:47

Just to redress the balance of the horrible judgemental people criticising your parenting our 17 month old also has his half hour of TV per day after his knitted lentil stew and before his bath, bedtime stories and crack pipe.

We have a few ITNG on our HD recorder so managed to get through Saturday OK, but tried him with 64 Zoo Lane tonight and he was fine. Phew!

shrub77 · 30/03/2008 23:48

I got in from work this evening at 6.30 and have to admit it was me who cried there was no ITNG while Dd quite happily played trains with Daddy.

ITNG is on during the day (10 something), OH checked and Sky+ has saved the day! Charlie and Lola, Rubbadubbers and Zoo Lane are now the bedtime hour.

As for routine, we still do story, bath, milk etc but the bedtime hour is only time my Dd is allowed to watch tv. It calms her down believe it or not ready for bed!

fingerwoman · 31/03/2008 20:08

oh charlie and lola, rubberdubbers and 64 zoo lane all beat ITNG hands down, I can't stand it, drives me potty. ds1 was scared of it for ages too lol

GirlySquare · 31/03/2008 20:16

Can do without ITNG though dd misses Storymakers 'where have Jelly and Jackson and Rosetti Wordsworth gone?'

dd does have bedtime story but missing J&J. Wish they'd give some warning!

Mouselady · 31/03/2008 20:24

TV is good for wind-down time while they're having their warm milk, but personally I even find Story Makers too exciting.
I have an ancient (very ancient) Button Moon video that we play. We know every word, but just the familiarity is relaxing.
