What’s it like to have a 2 year age gap?

any tips?

how was it having a 2 year old toddler and a newborn?

im pregnant and will be dealing with a 2 year gap when the baby comes.
i have huge mom guilt. My toddler is still breastfed - clingy - still a baby in my eyes. I don’t know to wean my little one off 😰

Your toddler will suddenly seem huge when you bring home your new baby. Be prepared for that. But of course, they are still little. It's a balance between wanting them to feel grown up and helpful with the baby and not making them feel pushed aside.

Perfect in my experience.
Yes the first few months of having two are tough but it gets easier because they are so close in age they are able to play together and enjoy the same things. Friends with a 3 year gap seemed to find it harder as they got older.

It's fine! Get a double buggy and a sling. Let them both breastfeed a bit if they want and if you want. They'll be close enough to play soon, all good. Get prepared to toilet train the bigger one soon though, that will help you

Oh I tried and failed to toilet train my oldest before baby arrived and eventually gave up as was sick of cleaning poo but a few weeks after baby was born, toddler (2.5 yo by then) decided they were too old for nappies as probably felt grown up compared to baby. It is a lovely age gap, make sure toddler feels included and loved. We did a present from each sibling to the other as we read it somewhere and think that helped older one a lot (older one got to choose a baby toy to welcome sibling and we bought toddler a cool present on behalf of baby which they loved). Also read a few books about having a baby sibling and talked a lot about the baby and got toddler really excited and looking forward to the baby arriving. Also got a baby doll for toddler to “look after” and even carry in a little sling themselves.

Dead easy in my case. I found going from 1 to 2, WAY easier than just having the one.

The first few months were really hard with the lack of sleep, and us all adjusting. It settled down from about 3 months. Then we got on fine until my youngest started crawling the day after I started toilet training my eldest. Chaos ensued and continued probably from 9-18months. My eldest was at the stage where he wanted to play and build things and set up his toys whereas my youngest was now mobile, wanted to join in and to knock everything over. I wouldn't change it for the world though. They are now 2 and 4, and absolutely adore each other. It definitely got easier and now they will seek each other out and usually like playing together. The 2 year gap means that there are some toys they both enjoy playing, they like alot of the same books, to go to the same places, to play the same games, etc.
