I must warn you that NO ONE gets to touch Mummy's Yorkshire Pudding

I don't care if you are my firstborn, like WHATEVER

Yorkshire Pud is Not For Sharing

TheThotPlickens · 28/03/2008 21:27

Sorry - just trying not to ask a leading question!

Scenario - out for lunch with 2 other friends say, with our 18 month old LOs. The kiddies have been given lunch or are being offered food directly from Mummy's plate but are mainly just pottering around playing with some toys / going up to each and every mummy asking them for some of their food.

Let's say that either all the LOs are actively and noisily crowding one mummy in particular and are seemingly quite prepared to eat everything on her plate (particularly if it's a very expensive and naughty choc French pud ) - how would you handle that (either as that mummy or one of the others)? Bearing in mind that buying one for them is not really an option due to the nature of the food in question....

lol I would probably feed them, just for the joy of seeing happy toddlers

but I am Soft

LynetteScavo · 28/03/2008 21:35

How would I handle it? I would say " This is my chocolate pudding, go and eat your own food" very clearly. I do not share my chocolate pudding with anyone. Ever.

hermionegrangerat34 · 28/03/2008 21:37

'No, this is mummy's. This is special mummy food. You have had special food that is just right for [lo's name]s'.

TheThotPlickens · 28/03/2008 21:37

but they always prefer grownups food,
it's par for the course.

windygalestoday · 28/03/2008 21:37

i wouldnt buy a pudding for me if i wasnt prepared to buy one for my dc ....id happily share for the happy faces id see

TheThotPlickens · 28/03/2008 21:37

i woudl buy them the cheapest pud on offer,

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 28/03/2008 21:39

That would be my tendency but if the toddlers are wining and clawing at you and no-one offers to retract their LO.....one might be led to believe that one might be being selfish and childish to push them away......? Perhaps?

is this someone'e elses lo wanting your pudding...
hmm

morningpaper · 28/03/2008 21:42

I would feed them and then buy myself another one if I wanted one afterwards

Life's too short to fight with 1 year-old's over who eats the chocolate pudding

MerlinsBeard · 28/03/2008 21:42

Steal my food feel my fork!

I don't share dessert with my own DCs never mind anyone elses!

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 28/03/2008 21:42

Indeed yes.
Me + my pudding + 2-3 other small ones (1 being mine) threatening to polish it off and leave me with nothing. It is a heart rendering situation and one I appear to be thinking too much about .

OP posts:
Disenchanted · 28/03/2008 21:44

I would get my megaphone out and shout

'Back away from the chocolate pudding' Then pat them on the head and say 'now theres a dear'

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 28/03/2008 21:45

Sometimes a girl needs to eat her special and occasional pud in peace. I think it's because one of them is very vocal and demanding in his attempt to have some which just makes me want to tuck it under my armpit and shout 'go away'.
