Losing weight with baby

Just looking for other peoples experiences on weight loss with a baby!
(obviously this has been more heightened this weekend as I’ve over indulged!)
DD is 5 months. Extremely needy and very clingy, doesn’t go down for daytime naps always sleeps on me.
I do a lot of walking, and she’s in the sling a lot - when she’s in the sling with nothing to do around the house try to get extra cardio in - so a few side steps and some squats/lunges.

DD goes to bed between 7-8pm so I end up eating dinner quite late nearer to 9pm which definitely doesn’t help.
I start getting DD ready for bed around 6pm so it’s hard to get a dinner done and eaten before then as 4:30-5pm for prepping&eating dinner is just too early and I also have to wolf it down.

once dinner is eaten it’s a case of bottles washing, prepping for night feeds, showering, cleaning up from dinner etc etc then bed. I truly truly do not have time to fit in workouts in the day, and where I’m on my feet constantly with DD in the sling / walking I actually just want to sit down when I get the chance to.

how the HELL am I ever meant to loose weight in this situation?! Or do I just give up

Do you have a partner or anyone who is around regularly like a family member? I make the most of the opportunities I have when DH is at home (weekends and WFH days) and try and get out for a run on those days. I've done that since she was 12weeks. As for the contact napping, could you maybe do it during a wake window where a partner or someone else can play for half an hour? It's so tricky and such a big adjustment to find time in the baby routine but it is doable. Sometimes you have to shift things about a bit. I know easier said than done but I'd shift her bedtime a bit earlier so you're not eating at 9pm. Batch cooking for healthy, tasty meals if you are time poor.

Same as above. I have lost 26lbs in 3 months by going to the gym (40 mins class with a diet plan) 3 times a week when DH home and walking as much as I can. 10,000 steps per day ideally.

DH has been supportive of this and now I've lost what I had gained i'm just maintaining so good food choices and trying to still walk as much as possible. I also support him going for run 2/3 times a week etc.

Low carb, high protein meals no junk or alcohol (odd drink). Drinking at least 2.5 litres of water per day.

It is hard but I feel better for it x

To be honest I’ve mainly lost weight by reducing what I’m eating, not working out. When I work out it makes me more hungry so generally being more active has worked better such as walking a lot more. A lot of areas do have exercise classes where you can take your baby though. I did weight watchers to lose the baby weight; I could still have small treats which is what I need to keep going and I’d plan my meals ahead.
As an aside though why are you doing baby’s bedtime, dinner and cleaning up?

Thanks ladies - DP not around much as works long hours. I do fit the odd workout in when I can like if he’s home early or home one weekend but it’s rare that this happens. The nature of his job means he works most weekends too. If I see family I’ll always make the effort to go for walks and I definitely get over 10k steps in each day, just feel like it’s not helping me shift what I want too.

in terms of eating I’m pretty good too. Usually don’t eat any sugar (unless a weekend like Easter!), don’t really drink alcohol, try to keep things as low carb as possible but sometimes as DP not around much the easiest meals are often pasta! But always have some sort of salad for lunch etc. Feel like I do all the right things I just don’t seem to shift weight like I used to pre baby!!

I’ll keep trying with the workouts and whatnot and try to get a few extras in when I see family!

@Cbljgdpk so sorry not sure I understand what your question is? Sorry if I’ve misread!
