DS is 5 weeks old today and can 'sometimes' be difficult to settle after feeds and I was wondering about silent reflux/colic but seen a doctor today and he's said he's alergic to the milk.
He's formula fed and we had been giving him kendamil organic (GP hadn't heard of it) but we switched to the non organic one cause we were gifted a tin and it could be coincidence that this has started at the same time! We've nearly finished the tin which ususlly last us a week.
He's on 4oz which is ususlly 4 hours apart.
I'd say he's generally a good sleeper during the night. He'll wake up on the dot for his feed though when I put him down he can take a while to settle in that he'll keep spitting his dummy out, getting upset, until I put it back in. This can happen upteen times before he eventually drifts off, but no crying or excessive screaming.
He can be quite difficult to burp and on a few occasions he's refused to let us burp him, he just wriggles and squirms all over the place while screaming/bright red in the face.
He's put on over a 1lb when I got him weighed at 4 weeks.
He grunts A LOT and I suppose you could say he's a bit nasaly - sounds a little pig!
He often coughs/chokes during feeding but I think this is because he drinks very quickly? We feed him upright.
He can often get hiccups. He had them 5 times yesterday. But before that I can't remember when he had them last.
As I mentioned after daytime feeds he sometimes starts screaming and nothing seems to work. A dummy will help for a bit until he spits it out and sometimes refuses it back. DH can eventually get him to settle on his chest.
We tend to burp him via the sitting on leg method as over the shoulder he just wriggles about everywhere as he's also quite strong and lifts/face plants his head. He does also arch his back but I dunno if this is part of his strength or whether he's looking around for more food and could still be hungry!
Shortly after we put him on kendamil organic (which was when he was 1 week old) he developed spots on his cheeks which I thought was baby acne. It's now got better however the doctor says it's not baby acne and is a sign of allergy. He's prescribed some milk but I'm not convinced it's an allergy and don't know whether to try him back on the organic kendamil first?
