Moving house with 3yo and baby

Hoping for a bit of advice please, as feeling full of guilt!

Currently 7 months pregnant with dc2 and already have a just turned 3 year old. We have been looking to move so that we are in the right catchment for school applications later this year. Found a house we liked a few weeks ago and working through the process now.

Feeling quite anxious about moving with a toddler and newborn but mainly concerned about how two big life events will impact the toddler. Every room will need decorating so it’s not a straight move in and get settled situation either.

any advice please about how we pull this off? I am worried about the impact on dc1, though we are doing it now to try and avoid moving schools in a few years / having to drive back to our previous area every day!

Accept it will be tough.
Accept that his behaviour will probably deteriorate and lots of attention seeking

carve out as much 1-2-1 time with him before and most important after new baby arrives

start to slowly increase nursery time. So he barely notices it’s increasing. more time in nursery, familiar environment, whilst you sort home, will help him

I did exactly this and it was fine! Also changed nursery to one nearer the new house. I mean it was a nightmare for me getting the old house and new house ready etc but DC1 adapted really well with no issues.

When we'd exchanged, we visited and I also did a video so we could watch it a few times before we actually moved in. I think it helped that it was an easy sell because it was much bigger so they got a playroom etc, so I guess emphasise the positives to your DC.
