I make up a 4oz bottle but when I am cooling my MAM anti colic bottle down in a jug of water, the cold water is getting in the bottle front the vents in the bottom, how do i stop this from happening?

I don't think you can, I never managed to! Maybe try unscrewing the lid a bit so there isn't a vacuum?

Put the cap on and do it upside down with the vents out of the water?

That's the one I'm trying at the moment, water goes in the cap but I guess it's better than cold water getting inside to the milk

Thank you

What I do if we’re on holiday or at MIL’s (we have a perfect prep at home) is allow a boiled kettle to cool and keep that water in a sealed clean bottle in the fridge. Then when you make up a fresh bottle using say 2oz of just-boiled water to sterilise the powder formula, and top off the remaining 2oz with your cooled water from the fridge.

You have to take the top off to prevent water getting sucked up the bottom.

Which lid? The full lid with the teat or just the cap lid?

@Sammilou07 the full lid with the top. So when it's in the water cooling down (or warming up) there is nothing on the bottle, it's open as though you were pouring something into it. It does mean you need to ensure you don't put it into too much water but water then won't suck up the bottom.

@Sammilou07 We changed to anti reflux milk that was made with warm water not boiling, so never needed to cool thankfully. But I remember at the very start when DC was on normal formula being really confused about how I was meant to cool it - eventually just got a perfect prep!

i put mine in a freezer bag and then stick it in a jug of water. It shouldn’t let water in unless the water is really hot - MAM does say on their bottle instructions that if you’re pouring boiling water in; which they advise you not to anyway, to make sure you take the lid off when submerging in water.
