Hi
My 7 year old has chicken Pox and it's everywhere -his hair, his ears, his eyelids, his mouth, his private parts and his chest is so covered I can barley see his skin now!
he's ok in himself apart from the itching.... any advice on how to help him.... I've done oat baths camomile cream and piriton the last few days but he's super fed up
Someone's advised head and shoulders? Any other tips?

Virasoothe was good for mine but if it’s really bad you can ring the doctors - just make sure it doesn’t end up infected

Oh, sending you sympathy, all three of mine suffered badly like your son. I found aloe vera gel to be really good - keep it in the fridge then apply as needed. It really helped my kids.

Virasoothe for sure helped mine. DD went to OOH as it was in her genitals and stopping her being able to wee but other than that we just had to wait it out. I hope your DS gets through it soon, it's really miserable in the early days.

And it always seems to happen at Easter!

Phenergan (?) is that how you spell it?
Anyway - a good paediatric antihistamine will really help with the itching and the resulting slight drowsiness also helps calm them and aids sleep.

Oh poor guy! Both my kids had it bad. Poxclin helped them quite a bit, also we popped some Oilatum in theirs bath which was quite soothing and helped scab. I remember my son had a big one of his face that the Drs believed was infected and so he was prescribed some cream.

If it's in the genital area, peeing into cool water (for a girl they'd need to kind of sit or squat into a washing up bowl) completely stops the burning sensation.
