15 month old biting - help!

My DD is a cheeky little madam and has taken to biting. It's usually when she is very happy or very annoyed. One example is when we flew to Italy and she was irritated at being strapped to my lap so bit my shoulders continuously for take off half an hour.

Alternatively we will be having a lovely time scribbling with a crayon and suddenly she will throw her arms around me for a cuddle and bite my shoulder.

It bloody hurts and my shoulders are covered in little bruises from it. This week we have been away and it has become really prevalent.

Does anyone have any solutions? Other than stand her away when she does it with a stern "no biting" statement?

FWIW she was an early crawler (6m) walker (10m) and has just entered the minor tantrum stage.

My 18m old DD hasnt quote started biting, but will look you dead in the eye and hit you for god knows whatever reason.

I've been removing her from me and saying 'mommy will not play with you if you hit' - she usually gets upset that ive removed her from me. Then will come back after around 30 seconds and give me a cuddle.

Thanks. I'll keep up the removing and saying "no biting"
