Flying on a plane - where should we pick our seats?

First time mum so probably overthinking it but should I be booking our seats towards the front or back of the plane?

i’m thinking about getting on/off the plane, nappy changes but also worried if they scream the plane down. Would it be better at the front or back?

I always pick the very last row. The changing table is usually back there (I'm talking Ryanair and easyJet) and they have always opened the back door fairly quickly on arrival.

Don't board first though, despite them offering to board families first. You'll just be sitting there squished in the seats longer than necessary! I hang around at the gate and board last with my little one.

On Ryanair you have to book the window seat with a lap infant and on easyJet you have to book an aisle seat. I travelled alone with DS a lot when he was 6-12 months old.....the window seat was better for privacy when breastfeeding but the aisle seat was better for being able to get up to walk the aisle.

If I remember right baby change us usual at the back if that makes any difference to your decision!

Overthinking. It doesn't really matter.

Sometimes on landing they only use the front steps so you might get off quicker near the front.

Oh. I didn't know they only had baby change at the back. Long while since mine were in nappies!

I book the back on Ryanair and EasyJet as they usually use both doors and for the reasons stated above. The front seats often cost extra but the back ones don’t (above what you are already paying to book a seat). Not really looking forward to a Ryanair flight with my almost 2 year old stuck in the window seat!
