How much TV does your toddler TRUTHFULLY watch

As the title says...

The TV was on an awful lot less when she was an only child. Now there's an almost 11 month and the 2yr3 month old, the TV is on a lot.

It's difficult with their naps no longer aligning, now baby is on just 2 naps. So, toddler wakes up and I quickly put YouTube kids on (in French) to keep her quiet to not wake baby! Then on my two days alone with them, screen goes off and we have breakfast and then go out for the morning. Home 11.15ish, TV on for toddler, whilst I take baby upstairs to nap. TV off by 12 and it's lunch. Then baby wakes, not long after it's toddlers nap. Toddler wakes and there's 45min to 1hr30 before baby's second nap. Again, TV goes on whilst I take baby upstairs to nap. TV then stays on so I can do some chores and sit and have a break/do a little work, until baby wakes. Then there's not much time til I prep dinner, so can't really go anywhere etc. After dinner we play, then she watches a recorded in the night garden as the start of bedtime routine

Probably 4hr TV those 2 days. Two days nursery, maybe 1hr TV. One day with just my partner I'd imagine the TV is on most of the day, tho sometimes kids TV, sometimes one if his films that she's not paying much attention to. Weekends, the screen is on a lot. Tho we usually go our for half a day at least.

I know when baby is down to 1 nap it'll be easier to get out more. At thr moment baby won't fall asleep if we're out, as she'll get FOMO and just totally skip a much needed nap.

Our 4yr old has the tv on in the background for two hours a day after nursery. At weekends he gets an iPad under supervision (something like word tag or reading eggs which is educational) after swimming so parents get a break, I'd say 4hrs a day. He's on our trampoline quite a bit at weekends and we do loads of writing/colouring and games.

As long as it's supervised and not excessive and you're doing other things as well I think it's fine. It's definitely benefited ours before school starts.

I don’t have a 2 year old so a bit different but I have one year old twins.
They didn’t really watch any except the dancing fruit about once a week until recently, not for any reason, I just hadn’t really thought about it.
I started putting Ms Rachel videos on once a day now, they love her! I think they are 60min videos. They play while they watch her (the dancing fruit they’d just stare at the tv entranced which is why I didn’t really put it on often).

Any suggestions of other good shows for babies let me know, I’m new to baby tv!

I think do what works for you, if there’s tantrums about tv or changes in behaviour etc I would reduce the time, if not let them enjoy. 4 hours sounds quite a lot on those days, but also I only have one year olds so ask me again in a year! 😂

When mine were about this age - about 2 hours a day on days at home, less on nursery days.

We were out and about a lot - both of ours would nap on the go, either in sling or buggy so I didn't do as much sticking the TV on while the other one napped

I'd say 2 hours a day. Maybe more. Occasionally if he wakes up too early we give him our phone to watch netflix 🫣

Sat and Sun morning cartoons, plus usually a film/Gladiators on Saturday night. Extra film on Sunday if we visit Grandparents.

Estimating 1 hr at childminder's twice a week. None at all on days at home with parents. No tablets, no phones.

Probably estimate max 10 hrs a week.

For my 3 year old a maximum 20 minutes a day, and that's generally looking something up that we have talked about such as why it rains or whatever.. We really notice a deterioration in his mood and attitude if he has any more than that. He's best on the days he has none.

Most days 4 episodes of something like octonauts so about 40 mins, sometimes up to 2hrs on a weekend if her big sister wants a disney film on
