What bedding do you use for almost 3 year olds? Still toddler sets?

My little one is 3 next month, he sleeps in his own little bed with a 4 tog duvet and a toddle r pillow. We usually leave the heating on around 20 but the firing up from the boiler is waking him I think so we’ve turned it down, since turning it down he’s sleeping better but wakes now and then and says he’s cold - he also says he can’t get comfy when going off to sleep. I’m wondering if the pillow is to flat and the duvet is to thin… what os the next stage when moving on and from
these and how
old?

From age 3 you can move up to a 7.5 duvet, Both my DC have this one

@Pineapplewaves thanks. What pillows do you use?

Does it not just depend on the bed size rather than DC's age? Is he in a standard single or still in a toddler bed?

You have the heating on at 20 all night?!?!

Shimmeringstar · 11/03/2024 20:00

We have a 7.5 tog duvet and just standard soft pillows from Tesco, whatever was on offer - nothing specific. He has a single bed so no size issues (almost 4 y/o)

My 3 year old has a single bed, single duvet and toddler size pillow. He sleeps in our bed half the time and uses normal pillow and our super king size duvet there

mitogoshi · 11/03/2024 20:06

Normal duvet and pillow is fine on a single bed. The weight of the duvet is dependent on your house - I used standard 10.5 ones

DS has 2 duvets in one cover and a regular sized pillow. He's in a toddler bed. In a few months he'll be moving to a double so will get him a medium tog double duvet.

By 3, all of mine were in proper sized beds with proper duvets and pillows

Killerqueenie · 11/03/2024 20:15

Mine are aged 2 and 4. Both in a single bed with a normal single sized duvet and pillow. I think their duvets are 13.5 tog, but our house gets super cold at night. My eldest sometimes comes through to our bed saying he's cold, but usually because he's kicked off his duvet, and rather than put it back on, he comes through to us 😅

The set comes with one pillow and one duvet, we use both, DC have never complained about either.

Single bed, normal duvet and pillow. She sleeps well but does get very sweaty so maybe we should use a lighter duvet.

Ladyj84 · 11/03/2024 20:52

our 3 toddlers and olders always just had a standard duvet and pillows and are all quite happy with them

mondaytosunday · 11/03/2024 23:06

20 seems warm. I'd set it at 18 max and even lower than that overnight.
My kids went from cot to single beds with a frame thing initially. I only use a 4 tog now so probably a 7.5 for them.

Fightingtobepositive · 12/03/2024 19:55

Thanks all. Everyone is so different aren’t they. It so hard to know what to do for the best. I guess maybe I’ll hold on a little longer Hoping summer is around the corner

He's in single bed with 7.5 tog duvet. We also have oil filled heaters in the kids rooms through the winter that come on for an hour every 2/3 hours to keep chill off. We don't have heating on over night and it's set to 17/18 in day

Jk987 · 12/03/2024 19:59

Is he kicking the bedding off in the night making him cold? Maybe a kids sleeping bag would be better.

Yourethebeerthief · 12/03/2024 20:17

2.5 year old has the same set up OP but he's got a vest under his long sleeve, long trouser pyjamas at the moment and warm socks.

He'll be 3 in the autumn and he won't be in a single bed as we have a cot that converts to toddler bed. I'll just keep the same duvet and pillow for him but I'll put a long sleeved vest under his jammies and an extra blanket on the duvet in the depths of winter.
