1 year old vomiting every morning help?

My 13 month old has vomited every morning this week since Monday. We kept him off childcare assuming it was a bug.

Every morning he wakes up, has milk or water (depending on the time he wakes) and is then sick shortly after. He’s not then sick again for the rest of the day. He’s drinking normally but not eating very well at all. He has no fever, rash or diarrhoea. He’s happy playing and smiley and giggly. This makes me think maybe it isn’t a sickness bug? His bugs in the past have never lasted 7 days before.

I spoke to 111 today who have referred me to our local pharmacy which opens at 10 but hoping some other mum has been through something similar?

Lots of things that might cause this, but as it’s been going on a relatively short time (not quite a week yet) seems most likely to be a viral thing.

if it’s still ongoing in another week I would make a gp appointment.

Hey in a similar situation with my 2 year old. One episode just before bed for the past week but otherwise fine. Very bizarre!

Thanks for your replies both. The pharmacist suspects it’s reflux or gas pain related given how sporadic the vomiting is. She’s suggested we try Infacol before bedtime in the first instance then follow up with the GP if it doesn’t improve. It’s interesting to me as he never needed Infacol when he was tiny but I suppose things change!

Hi I've just started a thread with a similar situation with my 14 month old, did things improve with yours?

Stop giving them milk or any dairy products for a few days, children can develop a temporary lactose intolerance after a sickness bug or virus

@BurritoTamer is your DS still vomiting each morning?

Hiya this was a short lived thing for us in the end. We went to the pharmacy and they suggested infacol. Not sure if that helped or not, in our case I think it was a virus or something. Just manifested really weirdly! He probably did this for 2-3 weeks consistently then just suddenly stopped.

Definitely not an allergy or intolerance in our case. But worth looking into I would think if it’s ongoing?

Glad it's passed. Just wanted to check as the thread had been reactivated Wink
