2.5 year old not speaking/meeting milestones

Hi I'm hoping someone might be able to offer me some advice/reassurance.

My 2.5 year old little boy is not speaking lots of babble and shouting laughing ect but no words.
We have him down for SALT both privately and through the public health system but the wait for an appointment is very long so our appointment is still a few months away.

We do have an ENT appointment later this month again after a pretty long wait however I'm sure he is hearing at the moment possibly had glue ear at some point in the last year due to some ear infections that was missed/fobed off by gp.

I think he is showing some some signs of Autism.

Not great in a social situation tends to play solo

Doesn't engage with peers well not even his siblings

Some tantrums however I would think fairly normal for age.

Uses my hand to get thing (not always)

Not waving/pointing

Not a super eater.

When I write them down there are quite a lot of red flags as such I have put him on tbe wait list for an assessment.

I suppose my question is can some of these traits be also associated with speech delay can he catch up has anyone got any similar experience.

I have gone for not being overly concerned to very concerned in the last few weeks he us due to start creche in September and I'm worried how he will cope

Thanks in advance sorry fir long winded ramble

We have 3 children. 2 of them weren't speaking at 2.5 yo. And they turned out fine.

Get ears checked. Be aware of autism but don't assume it.
Play, sing, tell stories and enjoy your child!

What’s his typical day like OP? What does he do/enjoy? Does he go to nursery?

Does he respond to his name? Look when you point at things, or try to get your attention?

My daughter is 3 next month and she sounds very similar but also has traits like those I asked you (and more), such as walking on tip toes, echolalia, stimming. She's just been diagnosed although deep down I knew.

They will check her eyes, ears and salt appointment as part of the assessment process.

Check his eyes. Sorry. Can't find an option to edit on the app.

My gorgeous girl has attended nursery for 9 months now and is so happy there, I was reluctant and scared for her but it's the best decision I could have made. The staff and other children there are also learning Makaton now too 😩

Thanks for coming back to me.

He is a great lil boy really very happy jumps and dances. Wouldn't have a favourite toys dips in and out of different things.
Happy to go to soft play and runs around hands me his coat when he has had enough.

Doesn't respond to his name often, looks when I point when he is paying attention and will grab my hand pull at my leg ect when he want my attention.

He is going to Nursery in September I'm.a nervous wreck to be honest but hoping it will be good for him.

Glad to hear your gorgeous daughter is getting so well with it.

Trying very hard to just enjoy the now and not think to far into the future and wait for the upcoming appointments
