Correct sleeping outfits

Hi all,

Just wanted some other opinions on sleeping guidelines and if anyone has dealt with similar.

My gorgeous baby is sweaty in the night, he's quite active in his sleep so wondering if this contributes to it. He doesn't seem to sweats when he sleeps in the day.

I have a room thermometer and the room is generally between 18-20, I can't cool it down anymore than that even with windows open and heating off, but it's still within the 16-20 temp as recommended.

If I dress baby as advised for that temperature he sweats. The past two nights I've put him in his nappy and one baby grow only, no blankets, and he's been as cool as a bean.

I've tried vest and baby grow, or baby grow and blanket but he still sweats. As he's still small his nappy goes quite far up his back so I'm wondering if this is acting as a layer.

I'm just concerned I'm not wrapping him up enough, yet concerned to wrap him up much at all as I certainly don't want him to over heat.

He sleeps in a moses basket currently, not sure if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance!

Being cold isn't really a worry for young babies as they'll let you.know. if he's sleeping, he's definitely cosy enough.

My dd's did, and still do have very different preferences for sleeping temperatures. As long as they're not overheated, don't worry, as that is the riskier end

Where is he sweaty? My dc always have a sweaty head at night, it's quite common - I think as they sleep, there's huge amounts of brain activity going on as they consolidate everything they've seen and learned in the day. So the head gets a bit hot. That's how I've always thought of it anyway!

Thank you both for your replies and helping put my mind at rest!

It's his head and back that gets sweaty, I think you've got a point about the brain activity!

Better too cold than too hot . As PP said, a cold baby will let you know whereas, if they are dangerously hot, they will not.
