Newborn clearly had cmpa

Her older sister has cmpa, so we know all the signs of it.
She is struggling with painful wind/screaming when passing wind
Loose nappies (been on gaviscon which bunged her up a little)
Really smelly farts
Reflux (hence the gaviscon)
Swollen eyes
Rash on eyes and face
Always sneezing
Always unsettled, especially after feeds
She struggled to regain birth weight, I think, because she was spitting up all the time I think
And now the poor thing has a cold !!
She's currently on a 2 week trial of pepti 1, at first her rash went, but now it's come back. I know she needs to go onto Neocate. None of the digestive issues have changed...

We've brought carobel and just gave her a feed, and she's still brought back some of her bottle! Is this normal ?? I thought it was meant to keep it down ?

Also, what helps a newborn with a cold ? She's so bunged up, I've got the snufflebabe saline spray but not sure how often we can use that

I'm sorry you're going through this for a second time.

Pepti 1 was one of the ones I never used. Is it thin like neocate hence the carobel?

As you have experience with this, I'd push for neocate if I were you. GP's are reluctant to prescribe it straight away because of the cost but it's one of only two available on prescription in the UK that is completely free of cows milk protein.

Honestly can't believe it ! But seems pretty common for siblings to both have it..

Yes it's so thin, but don't know if maybe she will just get used to it ?
My dd went onto Neocate syneo before, the gp was reluctant to prescribe even though the dietician prescribed it ! Told me I could buy it off the shelf lol don't think so at £30 pop a tin!
So I have to do the two week trial or can I go back Monday and say we need to go completely dairy free ? I can't believe even her eyes are swollen !!

I was quite lucky in that my GP took guidance from the dietician and we went from Nutramigen straight to neocate in just over a week.

In your position, I would go to the GP on Monday and given your history, push for neocate. If you notice worsening symptoms over the weekend, head straight to paediatric A&E at your local hospital and they will likely prescribe neocate or Alfamino (both amino acid formulas) and once the hospital have prescribed it, your GP will have little choice but to continue.

Thank you !! I hate we have to push for our little ones to have the right support, it's not right, it's an allergy that should be managed, and all because of cost !

Considering just taking dd to a&e because the quicker she is on the Neocate the better.
Has anyone ever done this ? Shes so young not even 4 weeks yet and in so much discomfort
The annoying thing is I have two tins of Neocate syneo in the cupboard but I can't just give her it because what if it doesn't get prescribed after that...

I did the hospital visit with our first DD. It was all an unknown back then and had enough early one Saturday morning so I called 111.

They advised to take her to A&E where she was assessed and we were given Neocate while at the hospital. The difference in her behaviour after just the first feed was astonishing. They gave us a prescription for Neocate & Carobel - we got this from the hospital pharmacy and the hospital wrote to my GP (electronically) so I could get the formula on repeat prescription thereafter. I had to buy the Carobel myself but that was fine.

When my second DD started displaying the same symptoms at 4 weeks, I knew what I was dealing with so we got prescribed Neocate much easier with the dieticians help.

So yesterday I made the decision to put dd on the Neocate we already have in the cupboard. She is so much better already !
Her eyes were swelling up on cows milk, not pooping and when she did it was just loose watery poo, in constant pain wriggling around with trapped wind/tummy ache, bad skin on her face, reflux, eyes were watery, sneezing all the time, hiccuping all the time.
She has been so settled already.
I know you shouldn't do it without a doctors say so but we've been through this before with dd1, we knew exactly what it was causing all the issues and the way I see it I've done it in my daughters best interests.
Going to tell the doctor today we've made the switch and hopefully then get referred to a dietician. Do the doctors prescribe the Neocate in the interim?
