Back pain - HELP!!!

Sorry if I should post somewhere else I am in too much pain to think properly.

My back has been awful for the past year and a half. Been to many health professionals inc. three GPS who all say it’s nothing serious. It seemed to start when I was breastfeeding, and I’ve always put it down to looking after a toddler and having terrible posture.

It’s like a stabbing/aching mostly in the middle of my back but more to the right side. Then sometimes that disappears and the top left feels really strained. A while ago I had such bad lower back ache I couldn’t walk my kid to school. I also get a weird pins and needles feeling in the middle right side.

It comes and goes - a couple of weeks ago I thought it had all gone away and wasn’t thinking about it. But now it’s back and it feels TERRIBLE. Certain seats seem to trigger it, and doing things while standing like washing up or cooking? Ive tried swimming but it doesn’t seem to help.

I don’t know really what I’m after here but maybe advice/someone to say they’ve had similar and it’s not life threatening :( everyone seems to think I’m being dramatic/it’s all stress related but it’s really painful

Sounds like you have herniated discs at one of more spinal levels. I would try to got to a private physio who specialised in spinal injury (not chiropractor or osteopath).

I agree with @Wenttomowameadow that a physio is your first step - if private isn’t an option then many places allow you to self refer, look on your local hospital website.

You can see your GP who should give you adequate pain relief. Then self refer to the NHS msk physio department, it may take a while but in the meantime keep as active as you can gentle walks. You could also get an MRI but it may take a while on NHS so if you could afford one to get it privately. At least you'll know what's causing it then (but sounds like discs as pp said). Hope you feel a bit better soon

Have you been to an osteopath?

I used a tens machine when mine was bad, not too expensive to buy one.
