Is anything wrong?

Been feeding my baby today (4oz formula) he's 2 weeks old. He keeps falling asleep at the bottle / appearing very milk drunk sleepy but within minutes he's just screaming and won't stop wriggling and trying to lift his head as if he's searching for food and just won't settle.

Up until now he was really good just sleeping during the day. Nights he struggled to settle but we introduced a dummy which seemed to work but I've had to give him it during the day today in a bid to help settle him but even that isn't working he just spits it out after a while and starts screaming again.

Just wondering if anything could be wrong? Checked and changed his nappy each time as well.

Apologies if this is just typical newborn behaviour, FTM if you can't tell!

Hey, have you heard of the wonder weeks? It's a book, but there's also a free app. On the app you can plug in babies due date (not birth date) and it predicts when baby might go through some things called leaps which made them tricky little people to live with. It's really quite fascinating as a concept though. The timings were bang on with my two, quite often after a few days of tearing my hair out wondering why my child was inconsolable I'd remember to check the app and realise we'd just 'leapt'. It also gives you ideas of what new skills to look out for after the leaps and games you might want to play at different times. I loved it as a ftm.

Just an idea of something it might be. Someone once said to be 'never brag, never despair, this is but a phase and will pass', which is usually the answer to all things with small people!

It sounds like he might have reflux. Try keeping him upright for a bit after he feeds, to give the milk a chance to stay down.

Are you burping baby? Could be very uncomfortable if not. Always, always raise and burp baby after feed.

My memory is a little rusty, but I also think that around 2 weeks is when they start stretching their skills as far as lung capacity. Sending you strength, it's a total head the first few months as a first timer. You'll be okay though, you got this xx

He might need a really big burp after the milk ?
He's crying because he's uncomfortable maybe?
Unfortunately with the dummy it will fall out and he's too little to put it back - so the crying there is just him saying "I want my dummy back".

For those asking yes I am burping him. He has his feed in stages and I burp him after every stage. I don't do anything until I get that burp!

He might have reflux. As said above keep him upright for a while after his milk (and the good burp).
I used to hold my girl up on my shoulder if she had fallen asleep rather than putting her down.

Also remember he might just be crying because he's 2 weeks old and everything is still weird and new 🙂
