Do toddlers REALLY eat better at nursery?

My DD is 2.5 years old. She's always been a good eater since she was weaned but then at around 12 months it changed. She became REALLY particular about her food and has her favourites.

Anyway, she started nursery at 14 months and absolutely loved it! Walks right in with a smile sometimes doesnt even say bye lol. I get daily reports from nursery telling me what she eats and how much of it and I'm always shocked to see the variety of food (curries, pies, daals, pastas) that she is either having 1/2 of, or full or even seconds. I'm surprised because when I try give her these foods at homes she refuses and just wants snacks lol. I also try and replicate the nursery routine and we always sit with her to eat.

I double check with nursery and they always assure me its accurate and that kids eat better with other kids, which im sure is true.

@ Parents experience a similar thing?
@ Nursery staff, is this really the case?

Omg same same same! I was adamant he'd eat healthy food and a nice balanced variety with veg and stuff. Pah. Went well til about exact same age as yours. He used to love lentils and veggie curry stuff. Now exists on a diet of scrambled egg and pasta and blueberries at home. Nursery provide a fairly decent mix.of curry/pie/chilli but it's quite.mince heavy. But he eats stuff there he won't entertain at home. Defo turning into fish fingers and beans kinda kid! I did find out this week that when they said he'd had seconds...it's cos they feed one fish finger. At home he'd eat three no bother so don't think portions are huge. They give them tea and he's always famished when gets home. Im trying not to worry...I was a terrible eater, took decades to eat veg. Just holding out on fact he loves fruit so gets some vitamins. Hard to keep trying them on new foods again when they just take one look and throw it across the floor.
