Another feed after an hour, is this normal?

Fed (bottle) my baby this morning approx just before 6am (time was 6:16 when we'd finished). Put him back down with his dummy and then at 7am he started stirring again. His dummy had come out so I put it back in. Still wouldn't settle so checked his nappy, all fine. I'm thinking he can't want feeding again after an hour so I put him on me for a cuddle with his dummy and he settled for all of 5 minutes but still showing signs of hunger.

As it's now after 8am I will feed him but just wondering if it's normal for babies wanting to feed again after an hour? He's 2 weeks old today and we've been giving him 4oz.

We also only just started giving him a dummy a couple of nights ago as he just wasn't settling after feeds. It worked a treat the first night but now I'm not so sure!

Comfort feeding is common in babies with silent reflux. Feeding soothes the discomfort from the reflux but then causes more reflux that needs to be soothed and it ends in a vicious cycle.

Cluster feeding is also common in breastfeeding babies at this age and I don't know if this can be the case for bottle/formula fed babies too.

I would start by holding them upright for 20minutes after a feed, make sure you are pace feeding and look at getting a tongue tie assessment as this can cause reflux as they swallow more air down.

I hope some one with experience formula at this age. We didn't make the switch until my daughter was quite a bit older.

Might need to poop with 4oz of milk in his tummy or might want more. Did he fall asleep milk drunk after the last bottle?

Yes they like to feed lots at 2 weeks old. My DS is 6 weeks now and we’ve had lots of feeds an hour apart (or less).

Aww only two weeks, if he appears hungry, feed! Forget what the box says.

Yes they feed a LOT at this age! But it can be hard to tell if they won’t settle because hungry or wet nappy or overtired etc. mine were swaddled and seemed to like that a lot.

Also I’m not sure a dummy is a good idea this early. They need to feed a lot as they grow so quickly at this stage. So if he is getting slightly hungry you don’t want him settling with a dummy really, you want him to wake up and have a feed.

DD was like at 2-4 weeks (now 9 weeks)! I'd just feed her and sometimes she would drink a full bottle and sometimes just 1 or 2 oz. Babies go through growth spurts and FF babies can 'cluster feed' just like BF babies. I also use a dummy with DD as she likes to comfort suck but isn't hungry which settles her

Update! So I put him down in his crib to write that and he just went completely back to sleep! So I've no idea if he wanted a feed or not!

@DuploTrain I think he'd just spit it out if he was hungry
