Toddler can’t sleep with bad nappy rash, keeps waking up crying

Hey guys, I’ve been posting a lot since yesterday and it seems that the reason as to why my 17 month old DS has been crying so much and can’t sleep, is because he has a bad nappy rash. He keeps waking up minutes after he falls asleep, both myself and DH have hardly slept for an hour in the last 48 hours. DS has never had nappy rash before and he suddenly got it and it’s really bad too like there’s red spots 🥺 I’ve been applying sudocrem but it’s not helping. I can’t get metanium at this hour because it’s past midnight and I’m sure that every pharmacy is closed right now. What can I do so that DS is able to get a fairly good sleep? How can I help him guys anyone? 🥺🥺

I think if it's red spots it's not normal nappy rash but a fungal infection? I'd see the gp, metanium won't cure it if it's fungal

Going forward, make sure his bum and other bits are dry before putting the new nappy on. So dry with eg flannel cloths after cleaning.

Egg white is supposed to be very good and you may have that in the home.

In addition to the previous good advice, give him calpol and baby ibuprofen either at the same time or staggered. That should make him feel much more comfortable.

You can get Metanium at 24 hour supermarkets if you have one nearby? It isn’t behind the counter so you don’t necessarily need a pharmacy. If it’s very bad you may need something prescribed, like a mild steroid ointment.

I second the advice to give some painkillers.

Bepanthen clears my baby's nappy rush very quickly

Agree that supermarkets sell Metanium so worth trying a dash around the shops? It does work wonders.

And agreed re painkillers.

Nappy rash can appear as red spots so not necessarily fungal as PP said.

Change Nappy after every single wee, and use wet cotton wool to wash the urine off
Do not rub. Dab. Do not use baby wipes
Cover gently in cream , do this every time he wee’s and repeat..

Get the go to check it, sounds like it's needs a look over incase it's more than a standard rash

It could be hand , foot and mouth - when my DS had it at that age is presented just like this - horrific raised spots all over his bum. He only ever had a very few on his hands and feet. He was unfortunately so poorly with it (far worse than when he had chicken pox a few months later!)

I’d say it’s worth getting it checked but let your GP surgery know it might be hand, foot and mouth as it’s highly contagious - we had to wait in a side room when we went!

My DS didn’t sleep properly for around a week, barely ate, went back to just wanting milk. It was really awful , you have my sympathies!!
