Hey guys, I accidentally gave my 17 month old calpol after 3 hours instead of 4! He has a fever and a cold. I’m so worried now, I hardly slept last night because he was awake for most of the night with his fever, that I wasn’t even thinking straight. This won’t harm him at all, will it? It was like 3 hours 20 mins since his last dose

It will be fine. Drs often prescribe higher doses in hospital etc.

He will be fine.

What really matters is the amount in 24 hours.

Make sure you dont give him more in 24 hours than he's allowed and space out the next dose a bit more.

Hope he feels better soon

It will be fine, don't worry!

You do know that you can give Calpol and Neurofen with an appropriate time gap? (can't remember exactly what but I'm sure google would throw it up).

My youngest drank an almost full bottle of antibiotics in the car. Didn't think they could unscrew the 'childproof' lid.... now 20 and fine!

As PP said, unless he's exceptionally small or underweight for his age, it'll be fine. The safe dose is higher than what's shown on the bottle and babies and toddlers in hospital will usually be prescribed a bigger dose safely.

It’s fine , doctors look at the amount over 24 hours. Just make sure he doesn’t have more than 4 doses in 24 hours and there’ll be no problems x

He will 100 percent be fine. Ten years ago the dose for a one year old was double was it is now. My babies both had 10ml from 12 months!

He will be fine, try not to worry, hope he feels better soon.

Bil is a consultant. He used to weigh his kids and dose them on that basis rather than age. His kids were big babies.

With this in mind doses by age will be on the low side to accommodate the smallest kids within the normal weight for that age group.

After nearly three and a half hours what's left in their system will be running down too. It's not like a double dose by accident.
