They're age 12-18m - I'm trying to work out whether I can put DD in them for nursery or do the cuffs at the bottom make them pjs? They were gifted to us!

We switched to pyjamas as soon as DS was crawling (about 9 months). So much easier. And contrary to a PP, we have plenty of pyjamas with long legs and short arms.

PJs

shoppingshamed · 03/03/2024 07:59

Where did you buy them from, ime shops display the sleepwear separately to the daytime clothes. You could go bank and check if you need to be sure

I've not heard of sleep suits to age 2, my children wore pajamas much younger than that

They're pjs, but it doesn't matter at all if they're warm enough :)

My dd was in top and bottoms for pjs before 12 months also, as she was asking to use the potty a lot like her big brother 😅 They're also great for mucky eaters or nappy leakers (again, dd) as you can get away with only changing one half!

They're from Tesco and they were a gift when Dd was born in June last year. It says part of a 4-piece set. It doesn't say nightwear anywhere. To me the bottoms look like nightwear, well the orange striped ones do more. I think I'll put her in them for nursery and mix and match so maybe they look less pj-ish!

I would say pjs based on the tops having the envelope shoulders, but it doesn't really matter.

As for age of wearing pjs, both my girls started wearing pjs at 9-12 months. Much less faff for nappy changing during the night and if they've wet through, you don't need to change their pjs top

This is good advice!

Mine wore bundlers at night and either leggings or baby gros in the day, which are called Sleep and Play in the US. I didn't know they are considered only pyjamas until a friend asked if we were having a pyjama day after I'd just put the babygro on him.

drspouse · 03/03/2024 09:29

Vest/envelope openings are for babies enormous heads. Not so you can get it off over the bottom.

NuffSaidSam · 03/03/2024 09:31

I think PJ's, but it could be either and totally doesn't matter for nursery. You could mix and match with something else to make them a bit less matchy.

Not according to the oft mentioned thing on here that isn't widely known, they are so you can pull the top down to take it off if covered in poo

Your reason makes more sense to me though

itsgettingweird · 03/03/2024 09:38

I like them and could be worn as an outfit.

If you're concerned though you can probably look at the shop online and find out there what they are described as?

Thanks everyone. It's just annoyed me there is no mention on the tags or labels anywhere. So we will never know for sure but do 12-18m olds wear pjs? I thought it was sleepsuits until about 2!?

My children both got very wriggly by about 12 months and I found it hard to get them into the sleepsuits, so we went to pjs at that point.

I think those are pjs but I also think they'd be fine for day wear (though I maybe wouldn't put her in the top and bottom together just so they don't look too much like pjs).

abblesss · 03/03/2024 17:24

Okay so this has confused me more - from the same shop (Tesco) we've also been these... pjs again? Same cuffs at the bottom and envelope tops. Age 6-9m this time.

The neck and the cuffs on the trousers say PJs to me.

AllGrownUp1465 · 03/03/2024 17:55

If you Google image ‘Tesco kids pyjamas’ then things that look like these sets come up

I would say that all the sets are pyjamas, but I would put them on in the day, especially if you mix and match

AegonT · 03/03/2024 22:14

Looks like PJs to me. Mine didn't wear PJs till they potty trained at 2; they wore sleepsuits till then. However my younger DD was so small at 2.5 she needed the 12-18 month size PJs.
