Not the best pics.

Just appeared this evening. She’s not touched or had anything different I can think of.

thanks

Could she have touched a plant?

Ek3009 · 27/02/2024 19:14

No I don’t think so, we don’t have any live plants in the house and not been out unless she’s touched something at nursery but I only noticed the rash tonight, I don’t think it was there when I picked her up.

Is the water too hot? Was it there before?

What’s the wet/soap on her hands? Has she reacted to that? How old is she?

Ek3009 · 27/02/2024 19:19

Waters not to hot and I noticed it just as I put her in the bath so was there before but the bubbles in the bath are just aveeno baby and she uses it every night. She’s 3. She’s absolutely fine otherwise.

She does have sensitive skin so thinking she has reacted to something but I just can’t think what and it’s never appeared on her hands before.

Is raised and itchy? Looks like a reaction to something. Perhaps get in touch with 111 just to be sure, they may send a link for you to send a pic for a clinician to look at.

Itsachange · 27/02/2024 19:23

It was quite cold today, might her hands be a bit chapped?

tryingsomethingnew · 27/02/2024 19:24

Get her ready for with her PJs. Take her temp and see. Might just go away in a few hours. Take her temp whilst she's sleeping just for peace of mind.

KestrelMoon · 27/02/2024 19:25

Could be from hand towel? Change washing powder? Use any fabric softener?
Does she go to nursery? It might be whatever hand soap they use there?

moggerhanger · 27/02/2024 19:26

Another vote for chapped hands here, especially if it's been cold and windy where you are. My DD used to get them.a lot - caused by not drying her hands properly on the backs, and then going outside to play.

KestrelMoon · 27/02/2024 19:26

If it is an allergic rash, a bit of piriton syrup will help.

Ek3009 · 27/02/2024 19:29

Thanks everyone she’s away to bed and seems quite happy and no temp. Iv gave her some clarytin so will keep an eye on her when she’s sleeping to make sure it doesn’t spread.

She would have been outside at nursery today but was about 10 degrees in Scotland so not too cold for us.

Any rash spots on her feet OP?

Ek3009 · 27/02/2024 19:47

@Obsidious no nothing on her feet and I don’t think it looks like hand foot and mouth from different pictures iv seen. We are flying on Friday so got everything crossed it’s just been a wee reaction to something and will be away by the morning 🤞

During covid my oldest got a reaction like this from handwashing. Certain hand wash set it off still occasionally (we now have only bar soap at home) and we think school had switched hand wash or it was exacerbated by the excessive washing they had to do. It may be something similar? Do you have any cream for her skin you could try and see if it helps if she has sensitive skin elsewhere?

Ek3009 · 27/02/2024 19:53

@CheesecakeandCrackers it maybe is soap from nursery she’s using, she’s quite independent at nursery going to the toilet etc so they won’t be making sure she’s washing all the soap and drying correct. It’s just strange I never noticed it until bath time and she had been home for a few hours but it maybe was there.

Iv put some epaderm on them and have gave her clarytin. Il mention to nursery tomorrow to try and make sure she is getting all the soap off and drying her them correct.

thanks

Fingers crossed, it always got worse in the cooler weather but it sounds like it's milder there with you at the moment! Aww it's good to be independent but it can cause some issues. Hopefully it'll clear up in time for hols.
