Stopping feeding overnight (bottles)

Anyone got success story's of stopping overnight feeds with formula/bottles?

My 13 month old cosleeps and wakes a lot. It's getting too much now. I usually just stick a bottle in his mouth and he goes back to sleep. But I think he might be waking to feed so it's a catch 22 and it's every couple of hours.

Last night I stopped giving him a bottle. Cold Turkey. It was hard but I stayed strong. I just did tapping, and rocking etc. I'm hoping tonight will be better.

Has anyone got experience with this? Did wakings lessen after bottle was eventually dissociated? Any tips would be appreciated

He will almost definitely wake less frequently once he realises there’s no milk coming. It might take a few nights, or even a few weeks but it will totally be worth the upheaval.

How do you find having him in your bed? If that’s something you’re also thinking about changing you might want to do it all in one go, rather than causing upset again in a few weeks/months.

Thanks @MoreLidlThanWaitrose nice to know it will be worth the initial pain

I slept with him on his floor bed last night, usually I take him into my bed after his first waking. Not sure what my plan is with that, I guess see how he starts sleeping after a few days then stick to our own beds. Scary!

We first dropped down to giving 1oz of formula/oat milk, once in the night. Once she was used to that we offered it after trying other things. She now has it maybe once a week. More if she unwell or struggling with reflux
