Is this normal behaviour for 4 years old?

Hi my son has started nursery school in September he is 4. I had his parent teacher interview today and it has been negative. Since starting school, he’s had lots of incidents in school such as being disruptive, hitting and throwing things and not wanting to tidy up/ likes being 1 on 1. He has been on medication that has caused aggressive behaviour and since being taken off it his behaviour has improved slightly. However they are wanting him assessed by the education psychologist due to this- apparently he sometimes doesn’t say sorry for his actions and he can be disruptive in class. I feel like such a bad parent now for this.

Not saying sorry wouldn't worry me.

However, generally, if a setting is suggesting additional support/assessment etc I would follow their advice. They see many, many children and are better placed to recognise when behaviour falls outside the norm.

Agree entirely with pp. If they're flagging it it's because they are concerned it is beyond normal parameters of behaviour at this age. Best to engage with and support them fully so he gets a consistent approach.

Ps don't feel like a bad parent. They all do stuff that makes us feel we've failed!! I'm sure with the right support it will get back on track.
