CHANGING NURSERY... do I/ don't I?

I have an 18 month old who goes to nursery 3 afternoons a week (3-530pm)

She has been going since 12 months old.

The only reason she goes at these strange hours is because there's a waiting list for the morning. The nursery came highly recommended and I was told by friends that I should get a morning space quickly. But it's now been 6 months and no sign.

It is hugely impacting my work life (I own a business) but I really need to work in the mornings as this is when there is most demand.

On top of this, I have not been massively impressed with the nursery.

  • no photos unless requested
  • slow or no replies to messages
  • constant nappy rash which she never gets at home
  • she doesn't seem to be 100% settled (still often cries as drop off and collection.

ANYWAY....... I've recently discovered a new little nursery which is gorgeous and has an immediate morning space available. The workers are warm and welcoming and I just get a really lovely feeling.

I have booked a trial on Monday where I go with her for 30 mins.

I guess my question is..... do you think it's okay to move nurseries once at this age?

Are there any considerations I should think of?

Do you have any stories you could share (pos or neg)?

It sounds like an easy decision-I would move her! She's only 18m, she'll adapt quickly.

Definitely move her. Very few negatives at 18 months.

There won't be any real negatives at moving her now especially if she'd then be staying until preschool without other moves.

The photo thing isn't unusual though, there often isn't time in a busy day to upload photos. However there should be some kind of communication (we use diaries in our baby room) and emails and phone calls should be answered quickly.

Go with your gut feeling though, if you think the new nursery will suit your baby best.

Go for it. She doesn't go often enough for it to be an issue

Definitely move. The nappy rash alone is reason to.

We recently moved ds to a nursery which had a better location for us and he loves it. He's eighteen months corrected, so same age as your daughter

If you're not happy with your current nursery then move her. Who cares the other people think it's great. You don't.
Those hours are not helpful at all when you need more.
