Nappy rash

My six month old suddenly has really bad nappy rash. We've tried bepanthen, sudocrem and yellow metanium but none seem to help. We've started doing nappy free time also.
Has anyone found that changing nappy/wipe brand helped or going back to cotton wool and water?
TIA.

It maybe a fungal rash and need an anti fungal cream. See the GP

When it's really bad Def go back to warm water and cotton wool, use the pads though else you'll get lots of bits stuck. When I couldn't clear it up with metanium I took her to the Dr and he prescribed a cream, canestem I think. Which cleared it up nicely.

While they have a rash I have always gone back to cotton wool and water plus lots of naked time.

May sound odd ... do they suffer from reflux?

I had a reflux baby who had a constant battle with nappy rash (really bad nappy rash) and it was really tough.

Metanium treats it whereas sudocrem doesn't - this is what I was told. Whether there's any truth in it, I don't know. Persistent slathering of metanium usually helped my little one in the end but it was slow

When mine have weepy nappy rash that just won't heal, I usually find that a very thin layer of canesten clears it up.

Whatever you use, make sure it's just a thin (translucent) layer, don't slather cream on.

ETA: I'm talking 6+ months really. I wouldn't use anything medicated on a tiny baby without checking with a doctor/pharmacist first.

We had really really bad nappy rash (weeping sore bum), even the doctors steroid cream didn’t shift it, tried everything, nappy free time, we even switched to reusable nappies because the doctor thought it was an allergy to the nappy itself because we’d exhausted all the other options.
In the end we tried vasaline (as suggested by my 93 year old granny) and it was gone in 3 days and hasn’t come back, we use vasaline at every change. We have always used cheeky wipes (essentially a flannel and water) made sure his bum is 100% dry before applying the vasaline and it’s been great. I’ve never used disposable wipes as I have an allergy to perfume and it seemed easier to know for certain I wouldn’t have a reaction.
