I am hoping you can give me some positive stories here! My 26 month old ds is still not talking. He was premature (born at 28 weeks) so corrected age is around 23 months. He met all other milestones within the expected ranges but his communication and speech seems very behind where he should be for actual age and his corrected age. He says 2 words consistently (‘there’ when asked where something is, ‘this’ when he points at something he wants) and has said a handful of other single words but not consistently or clearly. His receptive language and understanding is very good. He follows instructions and can identify hundreds of objects/animals/body parts/colours/ people etc. He is a very social little boy, he is also very physical- loves running, climbing etc. He babbles and talks in his own little language all day long but nothing that resembles actual words/sentences. My GP and HV don’t seem worried and neither did his paediatrician at the hospital. We have been referred to nhs SALT but expecting a long wait, at least a couple of months. I am so worried..Should I be?!
