Poorly child - naps and sleep!

I have a poorly 16m old - got a fever last night and was sick in their cot twice. Went to bed as normal at 7ish, woke at 9 was sick, then sick again etc so probably didn’t get to sleep till 1am then woke at 6am! 🙈

he passed out in my arms at 8.15am this morning (can’t recall the last contact nap ever!) and I’m just not sure what to do re: naps? He usually sleeps 2 hours at lunch 12-2.

he had such a bad sleep last night so he must be tired plus feeling rubbish but don’t want him to be awake all night - again - if he sleeps too much in the day time.

what’s the best course of action? Side note - he’s not the best night time sleeper anyway!

I'm in a similar boat today with a poorly 18 month old. I'd play it by ear, if he's sad and miserable I'd let him sleep if he wants to, for as long as he wants to. If he's happy running around as usual, I'd try to stick to the normal nap times.

Our night sleep is bad anyway so can't really mess it up much!

At that age did just let him nap and eat and drink his favourite foods. I'm not sure how you'd keep a poorly toddler awake anyway?

Just let him sleep

Sleep aids recovery ....sleep at the same time.
