Keeping a 1 year old entertained on Eurostar 🚆

We are taking our DD who will be 14 months old to Disneyland Paris in May. We are travelling on the Eurostar and need some ideas of toys etc to take to keep little one entertained. Has anyone got any tried and tested examples of anything your 1 year olds like playing with that would be easy to travel with.

Also if anyone has any other advice about travelling to Disneyland with a 1 year old that would be greatly appreciated too 🙂

We took our DD for the first time when she was (just) 2. We also travelled by Eurostar.

We took loads of little toys (like the ones you get in busy books), books and magnetic jigsaw puzzles as it was our first time travelling with her but the only thing she played with (for the entire journey) was one of those fidget poppers in the shape of Spiderman's head. She did play with the other toys in our hotel room during our down time though so I'm still glad we took them with us.

We did look out of the window a lot too and encouraged a nap so she wasn't too tired to enjoy it when we got there.

We went again last year when she was 3 and again she was happy just mostly looking out the window (despite me taking a bag full of toys to keep her entertained again).

We travel by train quite a lot. I always bring some favourite books (and possibly a new one or two), some small animal figures (and cars if we're feeling brave, as obviously they can roll away), some colouring (usually an A5 notebook and crayons/coloured pencils), and plenty of snacks, at least some of which are relatively slow to eat, small pieces that have to be carefully picked up, for example.

Stacking cups are always an excellent travel toy because they can be used in so many ways (on the train we nest them, hide things under them, when slightly older pretend to eat/drink out of them, balance them on each other's heads, etc.), plus they can be used as bath toys whilst you're away. Our plastic animals also go in the bath.

I found 14 months slightly tricky for toys. If she's still into any of the multi-textured, things to pull/grab/etc. type toys, those are great for travel, but my two were mostly over those by 14 months. We did have one a bit like https://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/sensory-toys/baby-sensory-toys/playgro-click-and-twist-rattle/p/204168 that I took a couple of times at that age – ours had little rings on it as well that you could slide along. Lots and lots of games of peekaboo, this is the way the lady rides, round and round the garden, and the like.
