Advice needed on overnight nappy (poo explosion)

Ok,

I am a day cloth user (motherease btp and rikki wrap) and a disp overnight.

My son is 8 months and has recently decided to do a poo first thing in the morning, not sure of the time but every day I go in and he stinks. Now not a problem, but it is exploding out of the nappy all up his back, out the sides, its not nice.

Now I am arranging to buy some good nappys for night time from nappyzone, but until I have that sorted should I put a wrap over the disp? Could I use the motherease bulked out overnight. I find reusables contain the poo much better than disp.

Thanks

My ds had horrific diarhoea exploding everywhere a few weeks back and we were in disps on a night - in this period i did put a motherease airflow wrap over his sposie and it held it all in. Good luck!

Well I think I will give the wrap a go! We were on holiday last week and he had horrible diarhoea as well. He exploded out of his clothes on a twice daily basis! Wish I had takena wrap with me then!

special offer,
why don't you put him in the cloth nappies for night time?
i never understood why people don't do it, cos my kids were always more comfortable in cloth overnight
why not use the cloth with an extra booster?

SpecialOffer · 23/03/2008 12:48

I think i have never done it as I am not sure how much to boost it by, and wheither Motherease would last through the night even well boosted! My son is a heavy wetter and can soak one nappy and booster within 3 hours.

I am just about to order some more heavy duty nappys for the night time.

Does anyone use Motherease overnight?

i used to use tots bots with a booster and motherease wrap - worked fine thru the night. Might be worth a try to see how he gets on one night? Might surprise you and save you some money. Otherwise, could you add a second booster?
Sorry if that doesn't help, not familiar with those particular nappies!

Thanks for the bumping Mammatulip

I tried the wrap last night over the nappy, however he is wearing active fit, which are high backed, and I hadn't tucked the anppy far enough down and it had wiggled out of the wrap - and therefore it still exploded up his back!!!

I am going to try boosting his Motherease nappy tonight. I have some bumgenius inserts so will try that and the regular booster, and see what else fits!

Thanks for all the advice, I know no-one in RL who uses cloth and everyone thinks I am mad for using them, including DP who refuses to change him now. I don't care though am sticking to my guns - I love them!!

I have just had a crazy half an hour seeing how much you can cram into a Motherease nappy, and still get it on your 8 month old. Thought I would experiment now as he is not the most co-operative at bedtime!

I have managed to find an old terry nappy someone gave me so have folded that up under a regular booster, and have also managed to fit a couple of microfibre cloths (thanks for tip).

I have used a fleece liner as heard these are better for over night.

Will let you know if he manages to wee through that lot, and if it contains the 7'o'clock explosion

have you tried different types of dissposables? My ds used to use pampers active fit sometimes (if they were on offer) but I found they weren't very good at night. I wondered if it's something to do with them not being active at night. I find Tesco's super fit (I think that's what they are called) the best at night time.

i have used motherease one size at night boosted with a large prefold or two terry nappies and found it to work fine, although it does give them an enormous bum they have always slept well and had no leaks. at moment i use a sandys nappy boosted with large prefold for dd and minki huggle for ds - i wish i had found the minki huggle earlier they are bombproof. The only reason i dont use my meos is that they are 8 yrs old and serving dc3+4 so no longer absorbant enough for anything more than 2-3hrs.

SpecialOffer · 24/03/2008 16:32

I am not normally a fan of pampers but yes they were on offer!

I think to be honest this is the final push i needed to get my son into cloth at night....

Well i did it, he looked like a human football, and I am not sure he could get his feet together, but he slept well and was dry this morning. He did not however have an explosion - typical!!

I have ordered some Ellas House Bumhuggers, as they look fab! I am a big fan of two parters, having tried pocket nappys, but just getting lots of leaks.

Thansk for all the advice - bring on the football bum tonight!!

Glad you got it sorted specialoffer, i know it is hard to do cloth nappies on your own, my dh is all for them but only as long as he doesn't need to go anywhere near them!!!
