Long bus journey

We’ve got to unexpectedly make a two hour bus journey tomorrow with DC (7 and 8). DS will be fine but DD is a nightmare. She often needs a wee on this length of car journey.
many tips for how to survive this bus trip?! No toilets and can’t stop. I’m dreading it!

If it's essential and there really are no stops or toilets insist that she has a wee before getting in the bus and she can go afterwards. If you really don't think she can manage could you take a portable potty?

Limit fluids before you go. I drink very little before going to the theatre!

Emergency pull up pants?

PotatoFan · 14/02/2024 09:59

What kind of bus is it? National express have toilets.

Mamoun · 14/02/2024 10:14

Have you had her assessed for special needs? At 7/8 yo a 2 hour bus journey should be more than manageable?

skgnome · 14/02/2024 10:17

No liquids at least an hour before you go, toilet just before departing
if she is really incapable of waiting 2 hours, an emergency nappy

CadyEastman · 14/02/2024 18:06

I'd also be taking her to the GP when you're able if she really can't manage 2 hours without a wee Flowers

You can’t use a potty on a bus don’t be ridiculous

LilBus · 14/02/2024 18:17

I’m amazed a 7 year old can’t go 2 hours without a wee unless she has special needs which you haven’t included but sure you would have? My 6 year old travels this far sometimes as I don’t drive, it’s fine. Go before you get on and then after 🤷‍♀️

Wouldn't it be better than her pissing on the seat?

LilBus · 14/02/2024 18:31

That’s what pull ups were invented for 🙄 are you really suggesting a child pulls down her clothes and pees in the middle of the aisle in a potty in full view of passengers ffs

LilBus · 14/02/2024 18:32

The child is 7 have some dignity. Even a 2 year old that would be gross but this child is 7 and should have some dignity/ privacy, what are you going to do with the pee afterwards? 🤦‍♀️

SkaneTos · 14/02/2024 18:33

Some buses nowadays have toilets.

Sk8erboi · 14/02/2024 18:57

I would definitely get some sort of nappy if you're sure she wouldn't survive the journey.
I dont find it surprising, my 9 year old always needs the loo. I've been called into the school because of it, been to the GP and all checks they did were fine and they weren't concerned.

Dogzombie · 14/02/2024 21:15

Should have said she is undergoing an assessment for autism which we strongly suspect x

Pull-ups. My DD went through a phase of constantly needing toilet urgently (no physical reason - she had tests) so in this kind of situation she wore a pull-up, she never used it.

Anexschoolbusdriver · 15/02/2024 09:50

Ask the driver when you get on if a stop would be possible half way through the journey, I have had people do this in the past.

Better than people just doing their business at the back upstairs, which I have also had.
