Mattress on floor- no bed frame

What would you think of this?

Child broke bed nearly year ago. Keeps asking for parents to buy new one.

Parents sleep in a bed.

Still no bed frame for child. Is this okay?

Under the impression it would at least need to be on slats for ventilation due to mould risks etc.

A quick search on gumtree and there are loads from between £30 -£60 which even if you don't have immediately, is achievable to save for in a year.

I think @noseovertailforyouth, there isn't much you can do to change this situation except support the child to insist upon a proper bed.

this isn’t unusual in some countries , I have visited plenty of houses abroad where the extended family sleep on the floor, but yes in this country I would see it more often as a poverty issue …..which you say isn’t the case? Depends on your relationship to the family - professional or personal ?
