10mo spots on chin

Blue2020 · 12/02/2024 11:11

My ds is 10 months old and has recently got tiny spots on his chin below his mouth. He is doing really well with food. I have recently introduced fruits such as orange and kiwi so I’m wondering if the acidity of the fruit is causing it? Or maybe the water baby wipes? (I haven’t changed them since he was little).

It feels minor to go to the doctors to enquire unless it gets worse so I wondered if anyone else had this with their baby? He’s not had any acne issues or skin issues so far other than cradle cap on the top of his head.

Is he teething?

Blue2020 · 12/02/2024 15:54

@DustyLee123 I think he is yes. Is it normal when they are teething to have them?

Yes they can. Just check it’s not HFM or impetigo, but it doesn’t sound like it.

Mine get this when they get excess breakouts (hard to say if that’s what it is). But usually some emollient does the trick. I was also told my a dermatologist that all disposable wipes contain something that isn’t water (even water wipes, she specifically mentioned them) which irritate babies’ skin so it’s always best to use just water and a cloth. This is definitely true for my two (who do have sensitive skin) - when I use reusable wipes (which just have water) their skin usually clears up.

You can put vaseline around the mouth which helps protect against drool and fruit juices ect

@Bluesands that makes sense, I will use a cloth going forward. I carry a water bottle when we are out so it shouldn’t be hard to do that.

@DustyLee123 thanks I will look into them to check.

@Lammveg i didn’t know that. He has a lot at the minute, I assume due to teething again.
