Swimming - toddler floating aid?

My DS is almost 2 and I take him swimming weekly, but just the two of us, not lessons.

He loves the water and until now I’ve just held him, but I’m wondering whether to get a floating device of some kind so he can start trying to move himself. Do you have any recommendations?
I nannied for a family who used floatsuits which seemed great, and could be gradually removed as they progressed, but just seeing if anyone has any advice/reviews on floatsuits, other floating aids, or if it’s best to just keep holding him? Thanks!

Ds had a Puddle Jumper. They were great!

I just used basic armbands. They do the job and are inexpensive, kids can have fun and develop water confidence. I know that they’re not a good position for learning to actually swim but they can’t really do that anyway before 3.5-4 anyway as the muscle strength isn’t there. DD started 2:1 swimming lessons at 3.5 and was confidentially doing a length of the toddler pool by 4 on her front and back with no flotation devices needed. So clearly not harmed by the armbands! We’ll do the same with her younger brother.

Puddle jumper. We tried so many things (including those vests which seemed to want him to float face down) before we were recommended these by a swimming instructor. They are amazing and still allow the children to develop swimming skills. They are also categorised as a life saving device (low category though) unlike armbands/vets/floatation suits etc.
