Hey - my DC1 has just started to
Get chicken pox all over him. I also have a 3mth old. How can I stop my baby getting chickenpox and how will it affect him if they do get it. I feel so stressed and worried. Any advice please.

so you have a 1 year old and a baby? Was the 1 year old vaxxed yet? It’s very contagious so it would be hard to prevent the baby. If it’s only just started can baby’s dad take them and stay somewhere else for a few weeks?

It's probably too late to do anything now, your other child is likely to get it, but most children go through it with no issue.

Don't give ibroprufen, distract to avoid scratching and oat baths help.

Chicken pox is in your system for a couple of weeks before the spots appear. You are also most contagious in the couple of days before the spots appear. So unfortunately your baby will have already been exposed.

Perhaps ring ahead to the pharmacy, GP or health visitor and ask about what if any treatments you can give your baby with chicken pox.

No my eldest is almost 4.

Guess I'll just have to keep an eye on how well my baby is doing, when they get it. It's so stressful waiting for it and dealing with my eldest.

Did I imagine my baby gets immunity from me, does anyone know?

My brothers got chickenpox when I was a baby (under 6 months). My mum was still breastfeeding me. She says I was fine, much better than my brothers, just had a couple of spots on my nose. As far as I know I still have immunity (never caught it again despite close exposure).
