Hi everyone,

I am struggling with healthy meal ideas for my 1 Y/O... I am not a cook by any means lol but I try my best, I am a picky eater and trying to ensure my DD doesnt follow

Can anyone please help me with healthy and easy dinner ideas for her? Ideally with vegetables involved? I have googled but it's more or less the same stuff

Thanks :)

I have an almost 16m old - popular meals on rotation for us

spaghetti bolognese which has celery and carrot in it

chilli con carne with kidney and black beans served with rice
chicken korma (I add spinach peppers and broccoli) served with rice and some naan
salmon served with corn on the cob and sweet potato or boiled potato
chicken dippers / fish fingers, low salt sugar beans and then something potato - maybe sweet potato or potato smiles
lasagne
Grilled quarter pounder served with carrots/peas and then probably baby boiled potatoes
pesto pasta with salmon flaked in - I usually add peas and spinach
Beef meatballs with pasta
‘Pizza’ made using a tortilla wrap and add any topping you like
omelette
Pastry pinwheels fillings could be pesto, broccoli and cream cheese, cheese and tomato
white fish such as hake served with vegetable rice and some broccoli

Have a look at rebecca wilson on instagram, DS ate every single recipe of hers that I made!

I recommend the “how to wean your baby” book

Remember at this age they don't need meals in the way we might think of them as adults so just bits on a plate is fine.

I'd have a list of protein, carbs and veg and just pick something from each column based on what you have (as much variety as possible across a week/month).

A bit of salmon, some mashed potato and some peas and carrots is fine. As is a bit of chicken, some rice and some green beans. As is some bits of sausage, pasta and sweetcorn and broccoli. Or any combination of those etc. Sometimes it's easier/quicker to do it this way.

We're vegetarian so my 1 one year old eats the same although I sometimes give her fish, but regulars here are: lentil spaghetti, broccoli orzo, cauliflower gnocchi, courgette pizza (base made with greek yogurt and self raising flour), tortilla pizza as pp mentioned, spinach and ricotta puff pastry, various veg muffins (spinach & sweetcorn, pea and onion), spinach Mac and cheese, courgette puff pastry pinwheels, broccoli and cheese scones :)

Mine ate the same as me - normal family meals like curry, chilli, casserole, pasta, stir fry etc etc

Just keep spicy food a bit milder and watch the salt (that doesn't hurt you either)

Everything same as us!

Jacket potato’s are always a winner with my 18mo he eats a whole one with butter and beans
or butter and tuna mayo!

spag Bol another one of his favourites I put diced onions and grated carrot in mine

steamed salmon or cod with mashed up potatoes

he’s getting a bit fussy at the moment so I’m also trying to think of new things to cook!
