Babys first immunisations worry

Hello my daughter is 9 weeks and had her first set of immunisations yesterday.

She had calpol at 11 (straight after), 3pm and then 7pm. She has woken this morning with a temp of 37.7 what do I do can I give more calpol? I'm panicking, she is fine in herself eating and weeing as normal.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I would give 111 a quick call - I'm sure they will prioritise your baby.

I think at that age they can only have 2 doses of Calpol in 24h so it would be a GP consultation before giving anymore

Fevers alone don't justify giving Calpol as the temperature is beneficial. 37.7 is only slightly above normal and in those situations I treat symptoms rather than fever so I would give Calpol if distressed or it was interfering with eating and sleeping. 111 would be a good call they tend to get you in quickly with any post vaccines queries whether you are 9 weeks or 60s. My mum had a reaction to her flu jab and she was in with the GP within 30 minutes of phoning the GP surgery.

I thought a fever was 38 or above? My DS was in a medical study where I had to record his post vaccine temperatures with a hospital provided thermometer, list all reactions, measure any injection site swelling with a tape measure etc. and they only classed a fever as above 38. Unless something has changed in the past 2-3 years (maybe it has?) I wouldn’t be batting an eyelid at 37.7 so long as baby seemed well in themselves.

You're so right. I'm just horrendously health anxious but trying to stay rational. Thank you x

I wouldn't be concerned about a temp below 38
