Just feel awful - worrying, back pain, tiredness

Hi

I don’t really know what I’m expecting from this post. I’ve had two huge losses in the past 2/3 weeks (v v v close family member and a miscarriage) and I just feel absolutely terrible.

I have a very active 2 year old and I haven’t been looking after myself as properly as I should have.

Ive had on and off back pain/tingling for over a year (been to several physios docs and osteos who all just say it’s being a mum related) but the pain has got BAD in the past week or so. And it seems to have spread to my very lower back and it’s hard to walk far.

I also just feel so tired, and my legs feel so weak. I’ve convinced myself I have some terrible illness that’s taking over my body and I can’t stop googling. But could the back problems be stress related…?

There are very strong links between back pain and mood/psychological wellbeing so yes, it could be related to your current situation, especially if healthcare clinicians weren't concerned. Can you find a way to create some time for yourself on a regular basis to do whatever you enjoy? Parenting a toddler is relentless and you do need some proper down time. Also could you book in some time to meet with friends without your child? Social connections can really help too. If you can it's worth putting a bit of extra effort into eating well and making sure you get out for some fresh air every day. Even a short walk can really help. Lastly mindfulness whilst not for everyone has been shown to help when done regularly. Headspace is great or there are free resources on Spotify etc. Hope things improve soon. Solidarity, it's really hard work!

Just add though, of course if you feel there is a really notable worsening and it's affecting your daily functioning, it might be worth seeing the GP again just for reassurance.

@SErunner thanks so much for your messages. I did LOADS of stretching yesterday and my back already feels a lot better so I’m feeling a bit better about it today. I think I will still book an appt with a doctor to double check as it’s just been going on for so long and will hopefully reassure me. And you’re right, I need to have more me time - all my friends seem to have moved away from London but my mums gonna have my son overnight tonight so I can have a rest. Thanks again 💐

Thanks great to hear, well done you. Sound sensible running it by the GP just for reassurance. And definitely get some 'you' time booked in! X
