DockATot/ PUrflo and co-sleeping Help!

Hoping to gain some useful and practical advice from those of you who are more experienced than I.

Expecting our precious and long awaited 1st baby in August, and although myself and DH agree on most things, we can't agree on the topic of a DockATot or Purflo nest.

We both want to use one, as we had so many friends tell us that they are amazing, and we would like to use one for co-sleeping. (Our baby out choice)

[Yes to have read all the info about the Lullaby trust warning, but we are confident in our own research and choices, so this thread isn't about that]

I would like to go with DockATot as it's far more attractive, and I like the spare covers, and also the Cabana kit attachment as we are having a summer baby, and I feel this will be really useful.

DH would like a purflo as it clearly states on the website that is is 'safe for overnight sleep' but my understanding was that none of these products are 'officially' safe for overnight sleep, so what's the difference between Purflo and DockATot? AIBU for wanting the 'more attractive' brand or should we go for the brand that makes the bolder safety claims?

I've just found this link:

Apparently Puurflo are not allowed to call their products 'safe for sleep' as this is misleading due to a lack of standard? I am so confused!

We bought a purflo for the situation you describe, my baby never slept well in it though and I'm not sure why but the base of it was quite firm and maybe not that comfy. I think the firmer base is one of their safety features but it might also make it harder to sleep on?

We ended up using a swaddle and moses basket which worked pretty well.

Hello, I wouldn't use either if your baby is happy to sleep without one tbh. Don't waste your money if you don't need to, and it risks the baby relying on the close feeling to sleep and then they will have difficulty moving away from that feeling when they get too big for the sleep nests, or when they want to roll.

Both of my sons were terrible sleepers though so I've used both in the past, well, dockatot was called sleepyhead when I bought one in 2018 but I understand that the product is exactly the same.

I thought the purflo was better as you can wash the entire thing, not just the covers and it seemed more breathable that the DockAtot, and like you say, it says on the website its safe for overnight sleep. I'm not sure who tested that claim out though, so yeah, both are not officlly

Sorry, Both are not officially ok for overnight sleep, but I assessed the situation and decided that I was more unsafe parenting with zero sleep that it was to use the purflo.

To me thats another reason to only use them if your baby really needs the comfort of a nest.
