Swim nappies

I've just booked my DD in for swimming classes and they insist on double wrapping (ie a disposable swimming nappy covered by a re-usable Splashabout Happy Nappy). I've managed to get hold of a Happy nappy that fits her but the only disposable swimming nappies I can find are Huggies and their smallest nappy seems to start from 16lb. DD is only 7lb 10oz... They said it doesn't matter if the disposable is a bit big as the Happy Nappy provides the seal against leaks, but the Huggies just seem huge for her!! Does anyone know of any smaller disposable swimming nappies or have any tips on how to deal with enormous nappies for swimming?

They do tend to fill up with water if they are a bit big. I bought a pair of material covered swim shorts (that have a nappy lining in them) - these are much more comfy too - the plastic pants do cut in a bit as well (although that may be my porky childs legs of course....)Most kids shops sell them, the swimming pool usually have them too. They are quite dear (about £10) - but are obviously re-usable

Sorry, just re-read that and realised you mean the other way around (need more coffee) -
Try Pamper sunnies - not sure what size they start from, but they were the smallest I could find

We use these inside the Happy Nappy (which is great, btw):

You'll need this sort of wrap style, we tried the one that's just like a pair of trunks and DD's legs were too thin.

So daft making you use the disposables too. Anyway, though, if you do, you can dry them and re-use them if they're not "used".

I use a tesco disposable swim nappy under a Happy Nappy on my little one- I think she was about 9lb when we first went swimming. The Happy Nappy is so tight to get on that it doesn't matter that the disposable is big underneath- the Tesco ones are a similar size to Huggies but half the price. We reuse the disposable nappy if it isn't 'used' - just dry it out.

Thanks everyone and really good to know you can re-use nappies that aren't dirty
