Hi,

I had my LG earlier in the year and she was born with a stork mark/angel kiss birth mark on her forehead and eye (as well as the back of her neck). The midwife said they are common and it should fade in time, but I have never seen them before. It can look a lot more prominent in certain lights (see picture).

Just wondered if any of your children had these birthmarks similar to my LG and if so, did you find they faded, even when they are this dark to start with? If so, when did you see that start to happen?

I've already had so many people ask if she has a sore eye etc Confused

Thank you in advance for any insight x

Yep me and my daughter have them, in the same places. I never notice her forehead one, she has a similar mark on her eye like your daughter and it's only noticeable now if she's run down.
I never notice mine, my mum always said she knew if i was poorly though as it looked darker. I'll share pics.

Hello! My son had this! He had a heart shaped mark between his eyes, red dots on the nape of his neck and he had one red eyelid.

hes now 15m and it’s faded quite a bit (except the nape of his neck). I barely notice in between his brows now it’s a very pale pink and come to think of it I think the mark on his lid is pretty much gone ☺️

Baby and now age 7. Can't remember when they faded

Thanks so much for responding, would really appreciate pics as struggle to find any comparison pics online and would be good to know what to expect! Were they as dark as my little girls to start with?

Thanks again x

Her eye was, forehead a little paler. As with mine hers tended to look darker when she was poorly.
Congratulations on your beautiful baby x

My son had one. Was gone totally by 2.5

Cryingbutstilltrying · 25/01/2024 14:00

Dd had this, it had gone completely by the time she was 2 years old and for a while before that only really showed up if she was crying or ill. She also had a few small strawberry marks and those had gone before she started school. It was a long time ago now but I can remember feeling so sad that she had the marks, I know it was a daft thing to think but at the time it was overwhelming. Don’t feel bad that they’re there, it is very common.

My DD had these too - slightly darker than your LGs. They had faded by the time she turned 1. She's 10 now, and the ones around her eyes reappear as a shadow when she is unwell.

lauramum85 · 25/01/2024 14:03

My son had one on his forehead and one at the back of his neck. He's nearly 3 and the one on his forehead has disappeared and you can just about see the one on the back of his head.

Windymcwindyson · 25/01/2024 14:04

Ds's was like a huge brush stroke red splodge between his eyes. For an unrelated reason we were at the hospital.. Dr remarked his dc had one at birth and it was gone before a year old. He was correct. The odd toddler tantrum saw it flare red them disappear. Was quite handy in making sure he hadn't been swapped when we were in a week post birth!!

mindworkingovertime · 25/01/2024 14:06

This one she was 9m old so had already faded a fair bit x

I had a large strawberry birthmark at birth. It totally disappeared after a few years ( so mum tells me )

Cornettoninja · 25/01/2024 14:08

Dd had one on the back of her head and didn’t really grow any hair till she was about 3!

it’s very faded now she’s 8 but I do sometimes go hunting for it. I appreciate some people find birthmarks upsetting etc. but for some reason I can’t help but find them really appealing and cute on babies. I don’t know what it is, they’re unique distinguishing features in my eyes 🤷‍♀️

congratulations on your lovely baby @newmummylife

Both my twins have them between their eyebrows and on the back of their necks (and on their scalp but can’t see that anymore as they have too much hair!)

They are 10m now and they’ve faded so much I only see them when they cry (they go red when they cry)

They are really common!

justasoul · 25/01/2024 14:10

DD had one when she was born, faded fairly quickly. When she was younger, it would reappear when she cried or had a temperature (or anything that made her flush) but now she's a teenager it has completely disappeared.

Windymcwindyson · 25/01/2024 14:14

My older ds has one on the back of his neck. Exactly like my dgf had... He also has a dimple chin like him too. Sadly they never met..

Cryingbutstilltrying · 25/01/2024 14:15

I’ve tried to add photos - a few days old, 6 months and then 2 years. By then she had more hair and usually all over her face so it was harder to spot anyway.

Nestofwalnuts · 25/01/2024 14:17

DS2 had them. Took a long time to go and I thought the back of the neck one in particular was a broth mark that would never fade but his hair grew over it. He has a buzz cut a year or tow ago and it definitely wans;t still there. Don't worry, she'll be fine. Just tell people they are temporary birthmarks that fade with time.
