Rash that won’t go away!

was wondering if anyone could help or had a similar experience with their child - my six month old has had a rash for six weeks - taken to the GP twice to be told it’s viral and will go away on its own.. it hasn’t! Its only on his neck, tummy and back and has never spread to arms or legs

it has moments where it’s worse and cannot figure out what it could be! We haven’t changed anything we wash with so I’ve ruled out any allergy to clothing!

My DC has something similar, coming up to 6 weeks now! 3 times I've been to the GP who said it's chronic hives, the first two visits they didn't prescribe anything but the last time did eventually give me antihistamines - but they don't seem to be doing anything! My DC is a toddler though so not sure what they would do in your case with a much younger baby. Did you find the rash appeared following a cough or cold? My GP seemed to think rashes are directly connected to viral illnesses and the immune system.

Oh that’s very interesting! Shame that the medication isn’t calming it down for you- I wasn’t sure if it was an allergy to something and that may help so will see what happens if I suggest to them!

no cough or cold (we’ve been incredibly lucky and he’s yet to catch one!) just seems to be that if they’re not sure on something it’s easy to say it’s viral which is just so frustrating

When my daughter gets a rash due to an allergic reaction it can take 6 weeks to go with twice daily aqueous cream and antihistamines as required if she seems to be irritated with it. We have steroids on prescription but every time we have gone to use them the rash has started to improve so we haven't needed it

She had a similar rash as newborn pre allergy diagnosis and our GP kept saying it was viral but the only thing that made it go was me going dairy and soya free
