Hello my 5 nearly 6 year old daughter has always suffered with cradle cap we’ve tried SO many different things. She has so many scrabs and when it’s gets really bad aka spreading to her forehead ( she’s just starting to get a little conscious of it now 🥺) I have to oil it and brush it off and it hurts her and makes me feel🤢but no matter what it always comes back. Also my 11 year old daughter has bad dandruff also tried so many things she has oily hair and dry scalp. 🤷🏼‍♀️ my kids just have crusty scalps but that I am aware it doesn’t run in family. I must of tried all of the obvious choices so would be so grateful on any advice on natural or medical remedies thank you x

My four year old had a little bit left so I bought the Frida Baby 3 step brush system thing. It worked brilliantly, all gone now. Not sure how it would work on a worse case but definitely worth a try. But I would definitely go to the GP too, if you haven't already.

We had to plaster DD's hair with vaseline and leave it on overnight. The whole thing would lift off in the morning. It went on until she was 4/5 though, and we had to do this every now and then.

Use head and Shoulders for the 11 year old.
And I never found anything that worked better for cradle cap than olive oil and lifting it off with a comb. The one with the worst cradle cap went on to have dandruff.

My 7yo still has one stubborn patch. Every few months I put coconut oil on and comb it all out. It does come back after a while but I just kind of see it as maintenance!

I rubbed extra virgin olive oil to soften the cradle cap and then used a fine comb. It was so satisfying to get it all off and the flakes came loose really easily. It’s not recommended anymore but it did the trick and only had to do it once, it never returned. I washed her hair once I’d removed the cradle cap so olive oil on for 20-25 minutes total.

Cradle cap and dandruff often havw a fungal cause, so shampoos that contain anti fungals like head and shoulders are good. One of mine had cradle cap for a long time before i found this out, once i started head and shoulders shampoo, it pretty much disappeared. I have kept buying it and getting them to use it frequently as they do still get a bit now and then.

Hi just joining as my 4 year old also has cradle cap. Is head and shoulders okay for 4 year old? I have tried the oil and combing it but lots of her hair comes out along with it!

I just put vaseline on the scales and then used a fine tooth comb like a knit comb & combed through the scales and they lifted off really easily.
The satisfaction is unreal!
Mind you I love watching the dandruff removal videos on you tube 😂

@Tiddlesem i have used head and shoulders on DS since he was 3/4 as it was the only thing that works. You have to do it regularly.

It does sting the eyes way more than other things but that's the only drawback ime

Aveeno worked on my two. I used the cream randomly and bathed them with the aveeno bath milk or whatever it's called...
