Fussy 14mo

My 14mo is a fussy eater. He’s always been, this isn’t a deterioration. We do a combination of finger food & him feeding himself. He only really likes banana, yoghurt, bread, hummus, cream cheese, porridge and Weetabix. Dinners are hard as he just doesn’t want to eat what we eat (even a mashed / blended version). I am at a bit of a loss with what to give him. We have tried sitting & eating with him, being relaxed, not putting any pressure on him etc & I try and give him a wide variety but he just chucks it on the floor or spits it out unless it is one of the things mentioned above. Any advice appreciated as I am a first time mum!

Can totally relate as my second was very fussy. If he's not eating, is he drinking milk and how much?

He has a small bottle of milk first thing & a slightly larger bottle just before bed. Have cut back massively on the milk he gets. It’s not that he’s not hungry I don’t think, it’s just that he is extremely fussy with what he chooses to eat. And I don’t know whether to just keep offering what he likes when he refuses something new, or not?!

Definitely don't offer alternatives. It's safe to assume that if he hasn't eaten a meal, he's just not hungry.

At 14 months I think I would ditch the morning botyle too and offer a cup of milk with breakfast.

Hi OP
i also have a fussy 14 month old! Best advice I read when offering food is to give them something you know they like on a plate alongside something new to try so they still get food but have the opportunity to try new things.
my little one will absolutely refuse food she doesn’t want even if she is hungry so if I didn’t offer alternatives she would barely eat x
